Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

5 Answers

Canon PIXMAiP1500. I have just replaced the black ink. I haven't used the machine for several months. It won't print black but will print colour. I have done all the mechanical stuff recommended like automatically cleaning the print head. I don't want to go to the expense of taking it to a service centre. What is your advice?

Sir,
Try to  clean the nozzle, print ahead alignment and deep cleaning... it solves the problem. If not, let me know.

Thanks good luck

Hi there!

thanks for using Fixya.com!!

If you have done the cleaning of the print head.

If you have already changed the black ink to anew.

And try a few print head deep cleanings, if still does not help then you pls try to soak the print head in a shallow plate of hot distilled water. Soak the tip of the print head. Do not use alcohol based liquid. If you can use any better cleansing solution that is recommended.

If still nothing happened, I suggest to if you will bring to the accredited service center. Hope you still have your warranty card so that you will not pay so much.

Check this as well: http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/canon/bj/s400.htm

    hello again!

I think it is with the nozzle problem. Maybe it is clogged, due to dried ink. Just clean the nozzle. And put it back again and pls do the auto printing head cleaning to do the job. You may do it several times and it depends with the clog if it is very bad. Just do it right. Hope I am not too late to help.

thanks again. don't forget to mark! cheers!

The black ink is not the problem, it's the nozzle. The nozzle for the black ink head is clogged with dried up ink. If it were mine, I would remove the print head and use a q-tip dipped in alcholol to clean the nozzle. Let the alcohol dry and put it back together and run another auto print head cleaning.
You're probably going to have to do it a few times. It's going to depend on how bad the clog is. This will fix you...just be patient. Remember that ink has been dried on several months. Don't forget to rate my help. Thanks for coming to FixYa.com

Hp photosmart 8050 won`t print black even though it says it full

Hi there! If you haven`t used the printer in 2-3 months the black ink cartridge has gona dry.Wich means the printer is seeing full ink but the ink isn`t actually coming out from the ink head.Take a peace of clean cloth or cotton and clear the bottom part of the ink head(be verry carfully while cleaning it cuz you may dmg the head.If that doesn`t help just go and buy a new ink cartridge and it will solve your problem.

Won't print black ink

I am on my second Photosmart C6180, the first one I had quit printing black ink after 6 months, after hours with the HP help desk, the finally decided to replace the printer. I have now been using the replacement for several months and just this weekend it too quit printing black ink...no copying, no printing and no faxing.  I am now shopping for another, not a HP.

Black Printing

Possibly the printer head needs replacing. That's the actual black 'box' the inks fit in. I've generally found they last no longer than about 18 months. You can try cleaning the contacts with an alcohol pad before forking out the $50 odd dollars it costs for a new head. If you have some time on your hands you could also try reinstalling the drivers - http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=232&modelid=8740 Good luck
