Google Chrome has caused my Dell Optiplex 760 to randomly reboot. I have 2 and both reboot if Google Chrome is installed.

I installed Google Chrome on my computer and our Secretary's computer and now both computers are randomly restarting. We uninstalled Google Chrome and the computers are working fine now. We would like to use Google Chrome in the school environment if we can get this issue fixed..

A few things I found with a Google search:

  • Try GooglePortable.
  • Run a virus check.
  • I think you should open Google Chrome without Sandboxing feature. In some cases reported, this feature was found to be the main element responsible for frequent crashes.

    1. Right click Chrome icon.
    2. Select Properties.
    3. Click the Shortcut tab.
    4. At the end of the Target textbox, type the following command:
    " -no sandbox"
    (without quotes; of course)
    5. Click OK.

SOURCE: Dell Optiplex 160L Motherboard

Hi there is one more thing you should check before buying another mobo. Trace the wires from your on/off switch on the case, unplug it and then bridge the 2 pins out with a screw driver, this will start the computer. runit as normal, then shut down and see if you get a restart. If the computer does not restart on its own you have a faulty switch. Clean it or replace it. Regards mistyman

SOURCE: computer keeps restarting

im assuming your computer running windows, does it go inside windows b4 it will restart? common causes regarding this problem are corrupted operating system or over heat on your processor and incompatble softwares such as firewalls and antivirus.

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 530 randomly shuts down and restarts

Sounds like it could be a virus. Or, a heat buildup problem - are all fans inside machine working? Is the fan inside the power supply operating? Was there any work done inside the computer recently?
If the hdw is all ok, go out and buy yourself a copy of Norton Internet Security 2009 - 1 user lic - $49.99 @ Staples. Do *not* buy any earlier vers. of this software! Install, update it, run computer computer scan - probably will find/remove some/many viruses.

If this helps, please take the time to rate my response to you.
Thanks and good luck.

SOURCE: I have a dell optiplex 270 and my computer does

Third party burners (Nero, Roxio) will give you wrong drivers if you try to add a new drive. Uninstall them and remove previous drive info. Also make sure cd record trab shows in device manager and is active on the IMAMPI.

Where does a dial up modem go in a Dell optiplex 760?

The dial-up modem would install inside the computer in a PCI slot. VERY easy to install but a couple considerations before doing so... There are different sizes depending on whether the OptiPlex is a mini-tower or small form factor case. Also - you would need drivers for the modem that are compatible with the operating system you have installed on the computer.

Facebook, Yahoo, Google, won't open in Chrome or IE, only in FF.

Windows XP is no longer supported. You have 2 browsers that are reporting the OS to the server and it is not allowing it to run those browsers.
