Press and hold the switch to the left until the screen goes off and then release the switch.

How do I re-calibrate my Garmin Nuvi 705 series. The touch screen isn't working properly.

Here is the procedure:

Nuvi 7xx Series: Turn the Nuvi off. Touch the screen anywhere and keep your finger there while moving the on/off switch to left (don't wait for Garmin logo to come up) and then quickly moving the switch the right (lock position). After a short while, you will reach the calibration screen. Go through the entire procedure of pressing each dot as it appears on the screen until it says "Done". More tips can be found here:

Locked Ipod

This isn't about the screen lock, and how to unlock it because you forgot the combonation. This is about when you press a button and your ipod doesn't respond (turn on). There are three easy steps to fix this:
1. Find a black/white oval switch on your ipod.
2. Move the switch to the left, so orange is showing on the right.
3. Your ipod won't be locked anymore.

I hope this helps.

Try recalibrating the screen.

Nuvi 2xx/2xxW Series: Turn the Nuvi off. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and then slide the on/off power switch to the left and hold until you see the calibration screen. Note: Some 2xxW models require the procedure below for the 7xx.

How do I lock the screen on the Garmin nuvi 500? (not lock the device--just the screen)

on the power switch you should see a slide where you slide it to the right. This will put it in safe mode operation, meaning you cannot touch the buttons until you are stopped. If you do not have the slide switch and you have the push button switch, then navigate to tools/settings/security. You will have two options, the first one is garmin lock, don't worry about this one. Look at the other one, it says safe mode. turn this on. The screen will only be locked as long as you're moving. When you stop, it will not be locked anymore until you start moving again. If you touch the screen while moving, it will ask you if you want to turn safe mode off. Hope this helps.
