Question about Whirlpool LHW0050PQ Front Load Washer

Whirlpool Front Loader machine will not drain

I have a whirlpool LHW0050PQ. The washer will go through its wash cycle fine, but when it is time to drain, it stops and the blinking light "Done" comes on. I have opened up the washer, checked all hoses, pumps and everything is clean: no clogs. When I put it on the spin cycle, it spins with water but will not drain at all. When it is time to pump the water out, I do not hear a pumping noise or anything.

I am not sure if the pump needs to be replaced as I checked it, and it looked super clean and fine to me.

Any ideas?

When it's time to drain, can you hear a hum from the drain pump? (If so the pump is getting power but might be jammed. If not check the electrical connection to the pump)
Removing the drain boot from the pump, are you able to manually rotate the drain pump impeller? (reach inside and turn it with your finger - unplug the machine first!)

On our LHW0050PQ the "Done" light stays on solid-- it does not blink, so on yours it may be indicating a malfunction, either in the electronic control or a problem with the pump. As VersaStyle suggested, you can check the connection to the pump, check for power to that connection and also look for evidence the impeller might have a pin or something stuck in it. If it used to work and it made a lot of noise before failing, I would suspect an object lodged in the impeller or a seized bearing.

(I find that when I use non-HE detergent, the pump gets really noisy, making sounds like the bearing is going out. I have a solution for that, but your situation sounds like a complete failure somewhere.)

Use a quarter inch nut driver to remove the bottom panel. A tech sheet should be under there that will give diagnostics. Open the pump filter and check for objects.616c06e.jpgea4423e.jpgfb90284.jpg
