My problem is the same as that of miketheskibm. I determined that my black ink cartridge was out of ink. I replaced it with a good cartridge, and the computer said I needed to run the alignment program. It started to run the program, but the printer never started. Instead, both the paper feed and the on/off lights continue to blink. I've deleted all printing jobs, restarted the computer and printer, even change black printer cartridges. Nothing works. The printer was working fine just a few hours earlier.

Yeah, your printer just had a "wig out". Next time it happens, and it might, You don't have to unplug from the computer, Just unplug it from power and 10 seconds later plug it back in.

Are you using genuine  Lexmark cartridges or clones? If clones, have you used this particular type before? Put your old cartridges in (that used to work) - are they recognised. If so, you have a dodgy set of cartridges. If not, you have a more serious problem. Remove the ink cartridges and look inside the carrier - do the contact pins that contact the cartridge chip look intact and undamaged. Check the narrow ribbon cable that runs along the left side of the carrier along the bottom has not come out of its connector. Check that the large ribbon cable that goes from the left side of the carrier to the main board has not come adrift.

My printer is not reading the black ink and i know it still has an abundance of ink inside

Make sure you are inserting a genuine Lexmark cartridge and not refilled/remanufactured.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert both cartridges.

9. If the black cartridge ink level is still not recognized, try to insert a different known working black cartridge to determine if the other is faulty. Or replace it with a new cartridge. It could be that it's gone faulty.

I have inserted a new black ink cartridge (34) and get an error message 'left cartridge missing, insert black or colour photo cartridge' have peeled label off and reinserted several times but still...

Make sure you are inserting a genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to insert a different known working cartridge, maybe your old black cartridge, to determine if your new cartridge is faulty. If inserting your old black cartridge gives you a message saying "very low ink" or something to that effect, then most probably there's something wrong with the new black cartridge. Have it replaced with a new one from the store where you bought it from. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

I have refilled my color and black cartridges and now I am getting "hp inkjet f2400 invalid cartridge".

Hi:
This is why manufactures suggest you do not use refill ink kits. Because the ink is not always compatiable with the printers, they are some times to thick and will overflow and cause errors. There are ink sensors on the cartridges to determine the kind of ink in the cartridge. Try using only the manufature ink cartridges to as much as possible.

I replaced my black ink cartridge with a refilled from office max and it will not print in black. Why?

Most HP cartridges have what's called an ACCUM chip, which doesn't care about the actual ink level, it counts how many milliliters (or droplets) have gone through the head to determine when it's "empty" and therefore refilling doesn't do anything, the accum still says the cartridge is empty.

When prints come out the landscape is all white .sky and sea ok. photos comes out with lines on them

Verify that the ink cartridges are not damaged and are completely seated in the printhead:
  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Verify that the labels on the ink cartridges are intact, and that the cartridges are not damaged.
  3. Verify that the KODAK Ink Cartridges have not been refilled.
  4. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear it click into position.

  6. Close the printer access door.
  7. Check the printer status monitor on your computer (or the LCD screen on the printer) to determine if there is sufficient ink available for your print job.

NOTE: When the "Black ink cartridge is low" or "Color ink cartridge is low" message is displayed, print quality can be affected.
  8. Reprint the picture or document that had the quality problem.

Hello'' can you tell me how to change the ink in the kodak printer?

  1. Open up the cartridge to reach the ink chamber within. For color and photo cartridges, just remove the lid with a sharp knife (insert it where the black and colored plastic meet) to find the three fill holes. On black cartridges, make a hole with a heated pin or drill on top of the cartridge where the letter "K" is.
  2. Step 2 Check the chambers in a color/photo cartridge to determine which color ink is in which chamber. Insert a different toothpick or pin into each chamber to draw out yellow, cyan or magenta ink.
  3. Step 3 Fill a plastic syringe bottle with enough ink in the color you are refilling. A black ink cartridge should need 10 to 15 milliliters. A color/photo cartridge takes 5 milliliters of each color.
  4. Step 4 Insert the syringe needle into the cartridge, sending the tip down to the bottom. The chamber contains a sponge, so you will need a small bit of force to push it in.
  5. Step 5 Inject the ink into the cartridge. Unlike other brands of cartridges, you want to saturate the sponge with ink in a Kodak cartridge. Depress the syringe plunger slowly until you can see the ink begin to surface on top of the sponge.
  6. Step 6 Wash all ink residue out of the syringe after you've refilled one shade of ink. If you intend to refill another color immediately, dry the syringe out first.
  7. Step 7 Replace the lid on a color/photo cartridge. Apply a strip of tape to the spot where you first removed the lid to secure it. You don't need to seal a hole you drilled in a black cartridge.
  8. Step 8 Leave the cartridge standing in a secure spot overnight. This helps the ink settle within the cartridge for even printing once the cartridge is back in the printer.

Hp psc 1210xi- the black ink cartridge appears to be out- i have a good color cartridge-how do I get the error off of my printer and print with my color cartridge?

  1. Take out the black cartridge once you've determined that you are completely out of black ink. You'll have to rely on the dark hues from the color cartridge to print in black.
  2. Adjust the printer software settings. Once you take out the black cartridge, your printer's software will typically warn you that you are missing a cartridge. Follow the instructions for your printer to allow the printer to print without the black cartridge. Then set the printer to print in black and white, not color. This overrides the black cartridge and allows the printer to access the dark hues of the color cartridge.
  3. Print a test page to ensure that your printer now prints black using the color cartridge.
  4. Print your documents. Bear in mind that your documents may not appear as black as normal. Still, they should be dark enough to pass for black, depending on how much color ink you have and the strength grade of the ink.
