I bought one of these. It's turned into a bit of a saga. I've never
owned a DVD player before, and it seemed like a bargain. The player
arrived and I played my one and only (brand new) region 2 LOTR DVD,
played fine. We rented a couple of DVDs over the weekend and the
first one played fine, the second one kept freezing and I had to turn
the DVD player off at the mains and then on again to even open the
drawer to get the disc out. This happened several times during the
movie. The whole unit then froze and I had to give up. I then tried
my previously perfect LOTR DVD and it wouldn't even load.
Othe things I noticed was that the remote took ages to execute a
command. ie: I would press 'stop' and it wouldn't stop for about 30
seconds. I wasn't sure if this was just a DVD player thing, as I'd
never owned one before...
Anyway, I sent it back and they have dispatched me a replacement
(which hasn't arrived yet) and this morning I got an email telling me
thay are going to send me a CD
"To rectify the situation, we will shortly be sending you a CD-ROM
and
easy to follow, simple, installation instructions, which will enable
you to easily upgrade your DVD player to offer the same level of
multi-region playback capability as would have been the case had the
product been properly configured at the outset. Please note that this
upgrade will not affect your warranty or any other statutory rights."
It had better work first time, or I'll be sending it back and buying a
well known brand...
