Step 1:
There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables

Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot from a non-bootable source. This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from. make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail Make sure all power and data leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs Data and Power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error. also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS Restart your computer and enter BIOS mode. On most computers this is done by pressing the Delete ot F2 key but will vary depending on your computers bios other keys Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc , ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc) , Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc).

Scroll over to the "Hard Drives" tab, and make sure your computer has the hard drive assigned to be on. Often during BIOS you can select auto-detect or change options with your hard drive to make sure Windows can recognize it. Once you've selected your desired options, continue to boot.

My acer verion L410 won't start on screen and fans are running high when switched on it has windows Xp

On Acer machines it is quite possible that it will need a new cmos battery. This is a small battery that keeps the date and time settings and also various settings. This doesn't normally stop a computer from booting but acres it does. It is fairly easy to swap a battery just take the top of the computer and you should see the battery on the main board level. You will need to replace the battery with a 2032 cell battery. You can get these at most shops they are the same as car alarm batteries and some camera batteries. Unplug the power first before you take the top off. They aren't expensive so worth a go . It could be something else such as the power or the motherboard or even a usb device also stopping it but because it's windows xphone it will be due for a bartery anyway.

My Acer L410 continually restarts. I am tryiong to start in safe mode so I can do a system restore. The keyboard works so I can select safe mode but once I reach the login on screen neither the keyboard...

I have 2 suggestions. First, try different keyboards/mice. I've had similar problems in the past with the drivers for usb peripherals not working after updates or re-installs. usually the older and more basic a mouse/keyboard is, the more likely it is to work in this situation. if you have old mouse and keyboard jacks(the round, purple or green ones that look like s-video), use them. Second, if you are running windows 7, when you get to the boot options, don't select 'safe mode', instead look at the other options below. there should be one called 'boot without driver signature enforcement' this may allow the computer to boot normally and restore keyboard function, however, it is not a solution and if it works, it indicates that you most likely have a malware problem. after you get it to boot, immediately start a scan with a reputable anti virus program (I recomend malwarebytes http://shop.malwarebytes.org/lpa/342/4/7268/free_g.html?x-at=regGcbmd ) then use the kaspersky rootkit remover.
