Check for the entry in Start->Programs->Startup or in the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and delete the executable name.

Have over 6,000 new mail in my aol mailbox. Is there a way to delete mail from a certain date to another date without having to delete one at a time?

Go down and tick all the boxes to the left of the email that you'd like to delete. If you want to delete more than one email, click the box next to each message that you want to delete.
Above your mailbox, click the Delete button (the trash can icon).
You can delete 'All' but that might be too drastic

Data Becke30,000. Business Card software I can't reinstall the CD

If you did not go to Start/Settings/Control Panel and deleted it from there....You can try the following....
1. Go to the desktop trashcan and see if the icons for the
software is there. If it is highlight rightclick and select restore.

2. Launch Windows Explorer, select the C: drive if it asks for
permission to display the contents say yes or ok.
Look for Program Files folder and open it. Look for a folder
that resembles the program name i.e. Databecker or something
similar to it. Open the folder and look for an *.exe file tthat may
have a large file size. (*note may contain subfolders so keep
opening them)

3. You can try a System Restore
a. Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
b. Try to restore to a day that you think you had the
program available

Good Luck

And it actually WORKS.

Delete the SpyZapper components manually. Log in to your computer using the administrator username and password, and then search and delete the following files:
  • AOLszs.drv
  • settings.ini
  • OptScan.exe
Note: Generally these files are located as below:
AOLszs.drv & settings.ini files location:

Audio driver

Aol (or as it's sometime called, The Aol virus) may not (very likely) has not been completely uninstalled from your machine. That should not be the problem you are experiencing but stranger things have happened and (at a later date) you might wish to use Regedit (very carefully) and do a search for "AOL" - deleting those keys. Also delete any folder titled AOL. So much for the trivia problem although it wasn't trivia at one time and caused (with an earlier version of AOL many years ago) a major mess. By the way....67% of the geeks use Firefox as there browser. You might like it and it's FREE. Onward...With no disrespect for E-Machines prior models than what I hope is your new one...were very popular in repair shops...if it eventually has a motherboard problem it's strongly suggested you replace the motherboard (or any other failing component) with a name brand manufacturer (and hey...maybe upgrade at the same time).

Back to your problem...assuming you are connected to the internet go to device manager and see what is not installed...(the exclamation mark). Reinstall those drivers.
If you don't know how bug me or simply do a search on the internet for ....."how to install drivers".

Also.....normally drivers don't might want to run SCANDISK in thorough mode (if available with your operating system) to fix any problems.

Failing both of these steps (and I would run scandisk before I reinstalled the driver) you could have a file corruption problem with your Operating system....not knowing which one you have try to do - in this order- a repair, a restore, a reinstall (be careful with the latter as you may have to reinstall all your applications). Note: Sometimes you can do a reinstall with a slash command and only reinstall the system files. This is OS dependent.

By the way....I would not rule out AOL having caused this problem. I personally used them when they were the only act in town....and waited as many as 10 hours to get connected, paid exorbitant fees, and will never forgive Steve Case (who finally got his one way ticket home). Hope this helps...Tango

AOL Hourglass

Download and install "Registry Mechanic" then do the updates prior to running it and removing anything for the first time. This will get rid of all your current Registry errors.

Try AOL again.

If AOL is still not working...

Un-install AOL.

Shut down completely for at lest 30 seconds, then restart.

Then do a search for all AOL files and folders with the options "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders" checked. Delete all of those found.

Restart then run Registry Mechanic again.

Shutdown restart.

Reinstall AOL.
