Question about HP Officejet 5510xi Printer

I tried disconnecting the USB cable, then reinserting the cartridges without success.
Then I cleaned the contact tabs inside the printer with some alcohol and that worked immediately. The white tissue I used for cleaning got a tiny bit greyish/black but apparently that was enough dirt to cause a faulty contact.
