Sounds like you scratched/damaged the laser,depending on when it was purchased,it might be still under warrenty,in that case,go to xbox.com and register it,then request a repair.xbox.com will also give you warranty info.

It was an issue before, around 2009. The console it self wont play any disc, XBOX came up with replacing the cd drive of the console but its not the simplest way to solve the issue. As part of the escalation department then, we found out that just simply using the usb port of the console to play music or at least a media was read by the console, you can resolve the issue. 1. Plug a USB flask drive or any mobile phone via USB to the xbox.2. Play any music from the external drive (flask drive or mobile phone that is connected via USB to the xbox)3. once music is playing, insert a disc in the cd drive.4. The xbox will read the cd this time for its currently acknowledging the media part of the connection5. Then you are good to go..

Xbox 360's disk drive is starting to fail.Knocking on the top of the Xbox (when its on its side) while loading a game cansometimes get it to work, but at some point you will need to have your Xbox repaired by Microsoft or replace it.
Did you purchase the game brand new or pre-owned? or is it a knock off copy? i only ask about the knock off copy idea because members of the military can aquire such things quite easily.
Its the Disk Drive, its not able to read it because something got in there and scratched the reader, or its just old and broke. but a new disk drive will fix the problem.
If you have the original X box CD's it will work fine expect when you have issues with region code.PAL NTSC are the two format a game can work with.so if you have NTSC formated game TRY a PAL version.it may work. else clean your lens and try inserting a new CD of that GAME.
do all your disks do this? if so it could be your xboxs reading lense, if not it may just be sheer coincidence the second disk didnt work, this once happened to a friend of mine, exept with gta4
When the console was knocked over, the cd drive was knocked off center. Meaning that now whenever you put a cd in and power on the console, the cd will be "grinded" and desrtoyed. The console will need to be sent in for repair to Microsoft or another repair company. And please do not insert any more cd's into the drive.
From getting knocked over there may be a corrupt file in the hard drive try reformatting the ENTIRE hard drive and if that doesnt work you will probably have to send your Xbox into Microsoft.
