Question about Toshiba Satellite 1115-S103 Notebook

Open Question

My Toshiba 1115-S103 LCD screen backlight is just quit

RGB external monitor port works just fine & you can sort of see the LCD screen images, but not enough to use the mouse or really read the screen.

Someone posted about replacing the lamps and/or the lamp power modules. Does anyone know where to get the parts? I am an engineer and am good with a VOM and soldering iron so I may be able to do this myself once I get the parts needed and where they are, maybe...

SOURCE: Laptop LCD problem

maybe the problems is your resolusion is to high
so you need to resize your resolusion.,
1.turn on your laptop
2
quickly hit F8 ( do not leave hit F8 until you see a safe mode, but don,t choose dsafe mode.,but choose enable vga mode).
3.if your laptop does,t appears safe mode or enable vga mode
you can repeat step one..
other solusion you can do step 1 and then wait until appears option safe mode ( but do not leave your finger hit F8 until appears menu safe mode.,and you choose safe mode and klik ok and yes and right klik on the desktop and choose propertis and setting and you see screen resolution and move the screen resolution until 800 x 600 and ok and restart and every thing will be normal..

This is a memory error. Most likely on the motherboard, but you can swap out a memory stick and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, you'll be looking at a new motherboard.

1.- Connect to external monitor thru VGA port.
2.- If show image, the failure can be LCD Screen, backlight or inverter board
3.- is more easy replace the backlight.

If the LCD, inverter etc works in anothe laptop but not in the original laptop then it looks like a motherboard problem, possibly the power supply to the inverter.

Just replaced a cracked screen in a toshiba a105-s4074....when i turn it on i can barely see the screen....it is very dim.....when i plug the old cracked 1 up it works fine....any suggestions?

If you see a dim image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.

Satellite 1115 blank screen at start up.

Try using an external monitor. If an external monitor works then the issue may be backlight if not then the issue is the LCD screen. the way to test that is after you have used an external monitor to verufy booting and the the system works. then if the machine is out of warranty you remove the bezel anf the screws holding the lcd in place. lean the lcd forward. with a flash light on turn your system on and flash the light through the display if you see your post and or windows with the flashlight then the baclight is bad. if not lcd is bad. If you can not get teh external monitor to work, then your motherboard is bad or graphics card.

Stand by icon locked Toshiba Satellite 1115-S103

i really need more info, two things:

firstly look to see if the clip (where the screen clips onto the base when it closes) is mobile and is not jammed down from something.

secondly restart, if a image comes up in your POST (when the computer boots up) push tab and then F8 or similar (it will say just read the screen = ] ) and restart windows in safe mode.

when you have booted up in safe mode check in the display and power window and tell the computer to never go into sleep or hibernate.

like i said i need more info cause this can also be caused bu a hdd contact error, or a battery falure, so please if this does not help in the slightest just post up here more info and i will be happy to help further.

good luck.
