Question about Whirlpool LGR5636L Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer won't stay hot

Hi, I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer. The model # is LGR 5636 LQO. It will lite the ignitor when we 1st put the clothes in and then after that we have to keep opening the door for a couple minutes and then restart the dryer again over and over. I cleaned all of the sensors and replaced the igniter and we still have the same problem! Any help that you could provide would really be apreciated. Rich in Pontiac, Mi.

Possible problem is the gas coils sticking. You can verify this if you turn on the dryer and are able to see the igniter glow orange and shut off without a flame in the burner funnel.

there are 3 reasons for a dryer not doing the job yet running through the motions. 1st, the heat is not being produced and only cool room temp air is circulating. this can be a burned-out electric element or an over-heat sensor, or in0line safety fuse. ( if gas, can be ignitor or gas valve coils).. It could be that the washer is not ringing (spinning) dry the clothes verywell and there is too much moisture stiil in clothes which would double the dry time from 50-60 minutes to 2 hours. 3rd, could be clogged vent line and the hot moist air cannot leave the dryer so the clothes get hot by the moisture stays.

Dryer turns but no heat and knob doesn't move

Check the switch on the motor. It may have failed, or has a wire/terminal broken/disconnected. It is a multi-contact switch. both sections must click. Could also be mechanically loose on the motor and therefore just not getting fully activated.

Hope this is helpful.

Gas smell

Fire Hazzard ? YES !! Sounds like the ignitor is taking too long to lite the gas. This lets the gas trickle into the machine. It is very important to the operation that the ignitor lite within 30 seconds on the first try and within 20 seconds thereafter.

Gas dryer with no heat

check the ignition might be a glo-bar element or a maintained high voltage spark module. once there is a pilot a flame rod or a millivolt generator opens the main valve for fire.
