but i'm also seeing that the freezer is backing up and the drain doesn't drain

  • bobm6104 Mar 07, 2009

Am having the same problem with my refrigerator/freezer - puddles of water on the trays inside of refrigerator. I pulled everything out of the freezer, pulled up the bottom plastic tray held in by (2) 1/4" head screws and found the entire shelf underneath covered with ice. Looks like maybe the drain hole in the tray in back is frozen up. I defrosted & thawed it all out. Hole still seems plugged or crimped. I stuck a fine piece of wire down the hole but it stops about an inch down inside the hole. I activated the icemaker to empty the ice and add fresh water to see if water leaking from icemaker was causing the ice build-up, but that wasn't the problem. seems ice build-up from the freezer section melts and then drips down thru vent holes into the refirg section. Can't figure out where the ice build-up is coming from in the freezer, unless wife is in there constantly getting ice for her water and condensation forms over time then freezes. Otherwise all is working fine.

Are the air vents blocked in the refrigerator? Remove any
objects from in front of the air vents. See "Ensuring Proper Air
Circulation" for the location of air vents.
Are the door(s) opened often? To avoid humidity buildup,
try to get everything you need out of the refrigerator at once,
keep food organized so it is easy to find, and close the door
as soon as the food is removed. When the door is opened,
humidity from the room air enters the refrigerator. The more
often the door is opened, the faster humidity builds up,
especially when the room itself is very humid.

    Check that all food is
securely wrapped, Wipe off damp food containers before
    placing in the refrigerator.

    It is normal for
droplets to form on the back wall after the refrigerator self defrosts.

Why do I have a puddle under my fridge every couple days but no sign of a drip or leak?

If it is an automatic defrost fridge the it will have a hose draining down into a container under the fridge, make sure it is draining where it should and has,not become dislodged. Some have a small tray with either pipes inside it or an electric heater. Some have a container sitting on top of the compressor, both of these are used to evaporate the water.
check to make sure there are no holes in the water catcher.
if you have an electric heater that is not functioning then the container will be already full of water and at each defrost cycle will overflow onto the floor.

Water build up

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are getting puddles of water in the back of one of the bottom shelf and in one of the vegetable drawers in your Frigidaire refrigerator. I suggest putting the crisper drawer control on the Hi humidity setting. This should allow more moisture to escape out of the drawer and not cause as much puddling. Also, check your water filter and make sure it is not leaking, as well as any moisture from the ice maker. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please leave the model number of your washer. Typically, you can find this number inside your refrigerator on the liner walls. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

it soundslike you have a clogged defrost drain,

Odor in the fridge after the compressor broke down

All refridgerators will develop an odor whenever they are turned off, or the temperature gets too warm. The reason for this is that the small microbes from the various food stored in the fridge will start to grow some bacteria which will make the fridge smell.

You should empty the fridge and freezer, turn it off and clean the inside with a solution of white vinegar and water (50/50 mix) and wipe all the surfaces and dry it off. Also clean out all the bins and shelfs and compartments. Then leave the doors propped open for a few hours to remove as much moisture as possible until it's dry and you can confirm there is no more smell.

Put back all the shelfs and such and turn the fridge back on and you should be fine. Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Water on the bottom shelf of the Refridgerator

Has the refrigerator got a wet inner back?
Ff this is wet, adjust it until this solid ice 'blobs', bt not encrusted, like in a freezer
The refrigerator may not be cool enough and the natural warm moisture allowed into the cool compartment when the door is open is condensing into fluid before it is cooling sufficiently to suspend the moisture as a vapour. If the cool compartment is cool enough, any warm air admitted ill be chilled before it is allowed to condense, keeping the refridgerator dry.
However, the only drawback is that you will have to monitor it to prevent the build up of excesive ice.
Also, whether the refridgerator is either empty of full willaffe the day to day operation.
Hope this helps.
