Have a load test done on the battery as it sounds like the battery is failing and the extra load from the lights is taking the power from the ignition system and so the coils fall below operating voltage and so no spark. Also alternators need some voltage from the battery to start charging and if there is insufficient voltage from the battery it won't work

Check for fuel pressure when starting. Fuel pumps have a check valve in them that keep fuel in the rail at the injectors. If the check valve fails, the pump has to pump fuel all of the way up to the engine. Same thing with hot no-restarts. Fuel pump.

SOURCE: 1996 Camry 100 km stalling

This sounds like a common Camry problem. After driving my vehicle for about 20 minutes in highway traffic, the vehicle has difficulty idling when I slow down behind another car or turn a corner. This quickly deteriorates and then the car actually stalls when I slow right down or
Then usually the car starts again right away, but when I slow down again, stalls. Then when I start it up again, usually in traffic, I can’t get the shift into Drive. If I allow it to sit engine off for 3 – 5 minutes, it starts again, the shift can slide into shift, and the car goess off again, like nothing happened.

SOURCE: 87 Supra idles rough and dies out

I would suspect a vacuum leak. At idle under high vacuum the air fuel mix is being leaned out until you have misfiring so bad the engine quits. The exhaust smells rich because even a lean mixture, if it doesn't light off, if full of unburned fuel. At road speeds, the vacuum is low so the engine doesn't care if there is a small leak somewhere. It is getting most of its air through the open throttle. Check all your vacuum lines but remember that even if every line is okay, it could still be leaking from an old cracked intake manifold gasket.

If it's not your fuel filter plugged , or fuel pump malfunction, then it is probably your Mass air flow sensor, or your coil pack etc. You'll have to see if you have spark or fuel first. One of them is missing.

Car keeps dying starting

Try replacing your battery. It takes a lot of power to start your motor but only a little to run lights etc. When you get a boost from another car your using the other cars power to start yours.

Take an have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Guessing an replacing parts isn't the way . The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled by the PCM - engine computer,. Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

Transmission or altenator?

I would say change the alternator out. Start with the simplest and cheapest factor first. Without the alternator keeping the engine running its hard to put it any gear.

I was driving home and the car just stop, the break light came on and the battery light came on as well, i tryed to boost it still wont turn over would it be the alternator ?

99% of the time when those 2 lights come on together then yes, the alternator is not charging. You should be able to jump off though. May have to let it charge off other vehicle for a few minutes. Also check cable connection. If it does start when you remove cable it will die. Computer will shut down vehicle when it has less than 12 volts. If need be you could put a fully charged battery in and drive for a short period with no headlights or accessories on.

Car will not turn over but have lights

Hi, first thing you need to find out is if its a starter issue or power issue. Turn lights on and radio and anything else that is electrical in your car. Does everything stay on and bright? Does the car start clicking after a short time? If everything is good and your headlights are bright as they usually are, then you have a starter problem, maybe a connection problem from the battery or maybe it just went out(usually starters don't just go out without any warning) If the lights are dim or the car starts clicking after a few minutes having everything on you probably have a power issue. It's either alternator or battery. To test this get a jump start from somebody, when you get it started turn lights on and let run for a min. If it doesnt die shortly after that, disconnect the power side of the battery, if the vehicle continues to run then you have a bad battery if the vehicle dies it would be a bad alternator. Hope I could be of some assistance to you.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Sonata that just dies when i'm driving

Not the battery. Once the car is started, a bad battery will not cause it to stop running all of a sudden.
For engine to run you need - compression, air, fuel, spark.
Might want to check out your ignition coil for an intermittent condition - try replacing it.
And if it does not turn over(crank) check the wiring going to the starter motor, solenoid, for good connectivity. And make sure that your fuel pump is always getting power and pumping.

This sounds like an alternator problem and most likely a defective battery, have them tested by Kragen auto it's free.
