Question about Intel D845GVSR Motherboard

1 Answer

Emachine T2890 won't power up. After reading some posts on this issue I went ahead and replaced the power supply, but the unit still won't power up. I am fairly certain that the old ps was fried since jumpering out the green and black wires on the main plug did not turn on the fan. The fan does work on the new ps when jumpered. The motherboard shows no visible signs of being bad, no bulging capacitors or leaks. No signs of overheating. When the power supply is turned on a green LED lights up on the motherboard but when I try to turn it on I get nothing. I also tried unplugging everything from the mb except the power supply and 1 ram card. Is there any way to verify if the mb is bad or any other suggestions?

I found the same thing, but don't have another computer to try it in. I did find some online notes that the PS has a known problem (that eMachines won't recognize) that apparently fries something, but I don't know if it is CPU or what?

Notice that the switch on front will not ground the #PS_ON signal, but like the other guy, I can ground this pin, and the fan begins to run, and power is fed to the drive units, however the drive units don't respond either, and no beeps whatsoever. Is this CPU?

    hi ljcast419

do you have another machine u can test the cpu in as it does sound rather like the cpu cud be a culprit...

there are a number of factors why ur machine wont switch on..

    1. faulty ram......normally a sign is when you get peeps from the pc speaker
    2. cpu.....cud be dead
    3. motherboard.....cud be dead

If you remove all the RAM fro the system and power it on, you should hear "Memory Error Beeps" if not, then it is usually Motherboard or CPU, for around $30.00 you can purchase a PCI POST code reader to try to pin the problem down further.
I am assuming from the post that all PCI cards (dial up modem especially) have been removed. Sounds like a bad MB or CPU, but if the video is integrated,( built on the motherboard, and not a seperate card, the memory is responsible for video also, and it maybe defective.

Will not power up

This is a common problem with Emachine motherboards, the problem is the power supply is a best tech and allows voltage surges to the motherboard which fries it too. If available you usually have to replace both the power supply and motherboard. I do not know what exactly goes bad on the motherboard but I have replaced many emachine power supplies and motherboards. The motherboard kit which used to be available from Emachines included a power supply and no warranty if you didn't change the power supply. They knew they had a problem.

I have a emachine modelw3619 and when i turn it on it beeps and no signal to montor i ttryed puting in a vido card and still no signal

There are a couple things to try. first off, the beeps are usually in a sequence, knowing the sequence is a good place to start. Second, eMachine motherboard are well known to succome to blown Power Supply Units (PSU's) and blow the caps off a few capacitors, which essentiallt ruins the mainboard. Unplug the unit, remove and reseat the memory, video card and disconnect usb, cdrom, hard drive cables from the motherboard and PSU, one at a time and cross your fingers.

i have seen those in some emachines but the original power supply stinks the processor needs a power supplie the has at least 300 watts but 400 plus is a better choice depending on which emachine case to have it might need ti have the case modded to fit a larger power supplie some emachine case have a plate mounted the allows both power supplie type to be used the small power supplies are garbage so go with the larger p4 power supplie most all should be able to be modded to fit in you case. Just remember the more power in mean the more power out.

Emachine won't boot. when first turned on, get 2 beeps, floating error "Self check, check your PC and signal cable, monitor is working" on black screen, fan runs fast and loud. machine not connected to...

I am an emachine specialist. These computer suffer with problem motherboards which often blow the power supply unit. Replacing the power supply on it's own does not solve the problem as the motherboard processor socket is the cause of the problem, the fault in turn blows the power supply. The same applies to all Advent and Medion computers sold via the high street stores.
