Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
I have an HP dv9000 notebook. When I put a cd in the driver to rip, it doesn't recognize that there is a cd in the driver. It also happens when I want to burn a cd. It will either show that the drive is empty OR it will eject the cd. It is very tempermental and will do this most of the time and then sometimes it will work just fine. The only way I can get it to work is to jiggle the drive while it's closed or just keep ejecting and start over and over and over and eventually it will recognize thet there is a cd in the drive. Also when the drive is closed and I have trouble even getting it to eject. It usually will eject after me pushing the button many times. Can you please assist me with this? I am not sure if I need to purchase a new cd/dvd diver or if I just need to update software for the drive. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there, this happened to me with my laptop and it was out of warrenty.
I gave HP a ring and they gave me 1 out of warrenty service and replaced the drave and wireless adaptor, i would sugguest giving them a ring as you will be entitled to this too :)

I would recomend replacing the cd drive, a driver update would not resolve this issue. It sounds like hardware to me. I would search on ebay and get a used or like new one and replace it yourself if you know how to replace it. The HP website will show you how to do it yourself.
Please post update
