Question about Sony DAV-S300 System

1 Answer

Remote control will not work

My remote control will not work. Bought a new one and it still does not work. My guess is the remote sensor has gone out. It will only work if I hold the remote against the front of the unit.

If this is a new piece then even after a new set of batteries are put in the correct direction there is no action , the matter must be reported for warranty claim.
You can test the output of the remote on a phone camera as it wil show the IR- infra red- emission. If absent the fault is with the remote. If present then it is either a mismatch of frequency or a fault in the detection.

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
Find new or replacement remotes:
http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html
or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

I have Verizon FIOS for my cable - I just bought an Insignia TV and neither my FIOS nor Insignia remote control work on the new TV - how do I correct this situation.

The device is expected to have been acquired with a compartible remote control. However, a universal remote control is capable of powering the new TV only acquirable separatly at retail. Once acquired, the remote user guide provided the step by step instrucntions on acquiring transmittion signal from the new TV or very additional devices, sometime capable of being powered by once universal remote control.

INSIGNIA NS-DX-A1-APT remote won't work to install converter box

Sounds like the remote sensors aren't working. Since you purchased them at Best Buy, Geek Squad should be able to test them for you at no charge.

The conversion date has been moved to the middle of June now by the government a few weeks ago. You have some more time to get them working.
