Mine started to show this after I used a USB thumb drive. I had to put it back in and before removing it, I had to go to the taskbar in the bottom right corner and click on the OKAY to remove device and go through the steps.

Sometimes this is because a peripheral was hooked up and then removed without finishing the install. You can usually remove the unknowns, then see if anything in your video, sound, or anything changed.

Completed a clean install of xp. still missing network controller driver as well as 2 other unknown devices. any ideas?

The network controller driver is the LAN driver which you should be able to get from the manufacturer website. The 2 other unknown drivers you will have to use trial and error. Check all of the devices on the laptop like the webcam, and see if they are working. Most likely these drivers are tied to a device that isn't working right now.

In the device manager on the other devices list it has yellow question marks on the multimedia audio controller and network controller, pci simple communication controller, universial serial bus (usb)...

IF you can connect to the internet, you'll need to go to the Averatec support site and look up the driver downloads page for your laptop model and operating system. The link below should take you to a page (not Averatec's) that also has the drivers you need.

http://www.notebookera.com/notebook-drivers/s_1233_1.shtml

Download and install the Chipset drivers, as well as the drivers listed for Audio, Video, USB, and Network. It would be a good ideal to download ALL drivers listed for your laptop model and operating system and burn them to a CD for possible future use. Once those drivers are installed, you all of the yellow question marks should go away and your system should start working just fine.

The modem doesn't work on my Averatec 3200...Why?

the driver may not be installed properly. go to control panel, system, hardware tab, device manager, look for the modem in the list. if it doesn't show up at all it is bad, if an unknown device is listed, try to find a driver for the device

My averatec series 3200 notebook cant detect my usb device

The flash disk could be faulty, especially when it draws too much power, and this will cause the USB ports to shut down and the other USB devices won't work until the faulty device is removed.

Averatec Laptop computer-

This could be a simple glitch, but most likely the screen is going out and will need replaced. Start by adjusting the screen resolution in the display properties. Adjust it to a lower setting, apply, then adjust it back to where it was, and apply. If this doesn't work, then try uninstalling the video drivers from the device manager and rebooting. The machine will automatically find the video and reinstall the drivers. By doing these two, you have just ruled out a software glitch and narrowed it down to hardware, so, if the problem persists, then it's the screen and will need replacing.

Sound problem

Is your problem happening only when you use skype messenger? Check if your mic is on mute by double clicking the speaker icon on the taskbar beside the date&time. Check also if there is a driver installed for the audio mic and sound to work by right clicking on My Computer then go to Properties, on the System Properties window click on Hardware tab then click Device Manager. Look if the speaker icon -- the Sound, video and game controllers-- has a Critical icon(a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside). If there is a Critical Icon then there is a missing driver for your sound. Fix this by installing the driver or just check first if your mic is on mute. Otherwise your mic is busted.
