Problem for Apple iPhone 3G

Iphone won't show up as an icon in my computer.

i have a problem with my 16 gig 3g with a 2.2.1 version white iphone it won't show up as an icon on my computer. i uninstalled the drivers in my device manager & plugged it back in, also used different cables in other usb ports it's still not working. i even uninstalled itunes & reinstalled it back also. in the itunes it appears to be syncing but have not sync anything as yet. i have also put someone elses iphone & it showed up right away. can anyone give me a soloution to this problem. thanks

If you've explored all software options and the problems doesn't resolve, it's an issue with the logic board or dock connector, so ultimately if you want to resolve it, one of these components needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty apple will likely give you a new one. If you're out of warranty you can attempt a self-repair if you're comfortable with opening devices like that, there are iPhone Repair guides that show you how. Before you should consider if it's big enough of an issue to take the risk of breaking things further or if you can deal without syncing the iphone.

is it fully charged sometimes the phone can take up to 30 mins to shown up in itunes does it charge via a wall charger if not then it could be a bad hardware fault
