How to tell the difference between a DT and TT label

Thermal labels come in two main types:
  • Thermal Transfer (TT) - uses a ribbon
  • Direct Thermal (DT) - does not use a ribbon
To find out which material your label is, scratch the surface of it with a fingernail or other pointed hard object. The DT label will produce a mark, the TT label will not.

Settings changing from direct to thermal transfer randomly

I have noticed this when we use Seagull Scientific drivers, the driver somehow just changes it's settings from TT thermal Transfer or DT Direct Thermal. You will need to change from DT to TT either through the printe dialogue box, document properties or through the driver, prefrences.

Auto cutter does not cut automatically

TM 220a and TM 220b should come with auto cutters
You have to unscrew the metal tab under the printer, you will find two sets of DIP switches. upper one is DWS 1 and the lower one is DWS 2. On DWS 2 you need to have jumper #2 ON. this enables or activates the auto cutter on printers. Good luck...

We have a Sato 480e that prints shipping tickets. It will not print now because it says "Paper End" when there is plenty of paper. I've cleaned the rollers, and changed the paper roll. What else can I try?
