I'm having the same problem. I've uninstalled usb conrollers and reinstalled. I Updated to XP SP 3 . No Luck.Checked dell website for universal serial bus drivers . Updated the chipset drivers & Bios . Still did not work. The device manager tells me everything is working correctly. Is this a hardware issue? I'm stumped!

Are you running XP or Vista?
If XP, go to control panel then to system then to advanced than to device manager. look for any YELLOW question marks and fix those.Especially in the USB Hub .

    Do this...

    Go to START>>>>ACCESSORIES>>>>>>SYSTEM TOOLS>>>>SYSTEM RESTORE.

Set the restore date to when the uSB's worked..That should fix it. If not I will get it working.

My Dell Precision 360 PC does not recognize HDDs.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your Dell Precision 360. If you are still having problems let me know.
Please describe what happened, what symptoms, you experienced prior to the system "dying". Also, what happens when you power on the pc now? Does it ask you to press F1/F2 keys to continue or does it give you options- for example something like startup repair, start in safe mode, etc. ?
Have you tried shutting system down and unplugging power from pc for two minutes then plugging back in and powering on?
Have you tried booting from a different hdd?
If you have tried anything please let me know what you tried and the result.
Good luck.

Check that batteries are charged and installed properly.--make sure driver disc is installed if applicable- check instructions as some wireless suites need you to push a small connect button to initialise them . Also try shifting the usb conector into another USB port if it is notm getting reconised.

I hope this helps

Keyboard not working

I presume it is a PS/2 keyboard one that plugs into the Green Connector at rear of PC, if so, then these ports often fault, with the mouse being OK. The best way around this is to get a cheap USB keyboard, and install it. Ensure you set the USB ON in BIOS too. You could try uninstall/reinstall of KB from device manager first.

OnBoard USB ports (both front and back) will not recognize any devices

When you reloaded the OS did you reload all the drivers? Sometimes if you do not reinstall the Intel driver the USB port will not be recognized. Happened on the last two DELL's I reloaded. Go to DELL's website and download all the drivers for your model.
Dell support website http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/
Look up your model by service tag, it is the alphanumeric code on the barcode label on the back of your DELL and also sometimes found on either the front or top of your DELL (sometimes it is hidden beneath the USB port cover that you flip up.
Try that and see if it fixes it. Also make sure that the connector did not come loose when you opened the case.

Keyboard error

have you tried it in a different usb port. or are all the ports not working. Because Dell usb ports have drivers and if the drivers don't work then neither is your keyboard and mouse
Go here and use the 6th one down

1 USB Port Failure

Hi Guys

Unfortunately after looking at the computer installation details i was at fault, although i have had
the computer for well over 2 years and this is the first time it has happened.
My Dell Dimension 5150 has 7 USB ports 5 at the back and 2 in the front and it appears that i have
connected the keyboard and mouse to the wrong ports.
There are two ports at the bottom allocated for the keyboard and mouse and for some reason i had
them in the top three ports hence my problem but still not sure why it happened.
Anyway my Dell Dimension 5150 is now running OK and no further help is needed.

Many Thanks.

HELLO

is your mouse and keyboard plugged into a PS2 connector http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ps-2-ports.jpg
look inside of your case and see if any capacitors are buldging on your motherboard the tops of the capacitors should be level/flat if they're ok, sounds like they are going, look for brown rusty color also around tops of capacitors, might be your outputs are going. If you have your mouse and keyboard plugged into ps2 ports try a USB Mouse and keyboard, borrow one first or buy a usb laser mouse for $12 worth a try even if your ps2 ports are blown, use the usb ports for mouse/keys ;)
