If a camshaft came loose the engine would not run at all. IF engine still runs then i would change the head gaskets. these things **** air and cause backfiring when running. but if engine doesn't run anymore i would look on ebay or craigslist for local mower for parts at least.

Look under the the left foot rest, there is a belt installation diagram. It will show how to install the belt correctly. It is real simple to replace belt, but the belt must be installed on the pulleys, correctly or it will fail, every time. Sincerely,Brad Locke

2009 24 hp 42 deck.YTS4000. Riding mower has 10 hrs on it and engine just started making a popping noise. Sears repairman came out and started talking about E85 gas to me. I dont use any different gas than...

I don't agree with the repairman. This has nothing to do with the gas you're using. Since it's practically new, I wouldn't attempt to repair it yourself. Escalate your problem through Sears customer support line until you get satisfaction, otherwise demand a refund.

BACKFIRES WHEN YOU KILL IT.

Let it idle for 5 minutes before shutting the engine off to stabilize the internal temperature, that should stop the backfiring which is fuel lighting off when hitting the hot combustion chamber surfaces.
