Question about Craftsman 24 Hp 48" Deck Yard Tractor
25HP twin B & S. backfiring. called sears repairman. he found camshaft had came loose and went into engine. said it would not be worthwhile to repair. told me it probably has caused other damage. Told me I need a new or used engine. Is this correct? charged me $96
just to tell me this. mower 5 years old. does this sound right?
If a camshaft came loose the engine would not run at all. IF engine still runs then i would change the head gaskets. these things **** air and cause backfiring when running. but if engine doesn't run anymore i would look on ebay or craigslist for local mower for parts at least.
