Do you mean "how to burn files from a portable device to the mac" instead? You will need burning software like Nero or other software that is compatible with your mac. The process includes copying the files from the portable device to your mac hard drive then use burning software to burn the files to a dvd or cd disk. I don't know about mac but with a pc, you simple drag and drop the files from the portable device to your hard drive using Windows Explorer.

Connect the external hard disk drive to the computer. Make sure that the external hard disk drive is powered on.

2. Create a Windows 7 system repair disc. To do this, follow these steps:

Follow the instructions to create the disc.

3. Note You must have a CD or DVD burner to create a system repair disc.

4. Start an elevated command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:

5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

C:\Windows\System32\REAgentC.exe /disable

6. Disconnect the external hard disk drive.

7. At the elevated command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

C:\Windows\System32\REAgentC.exe /enable

Note This operation might fail. In this case, if you have to have access to recovery tools, use the Windows 7 system repair disc that you created in step 2.

8. Reconnect the external hard disk drive to the computer.

9. Start the Backup and Restore Wizard to back up your files and data to the external hard disk drive.

the burner used a driver (software) that is in the way remove anything in hardware u do not need

I use a external 20 gb hard drive. its grate. Got it at walmart.

well relax there is no probleme with your dvd burner drive

3 Burn anything you want

All hard drive manufacturers have utilities you can download from their web sites that will write all zeros to your hard drive from a bootup environment.

Then if you get a hold of a copy of Hiren's Boot CD, you boot to this from your CD/DVD drive and select Hard Drive utilites and there is a program called wipe disk.

A free program called GDISK, will wipe a drive according to DOD standards. It doesn't com with a boot loader you can use to boot from your CD/DVD drive, you need to use Nero Express to create a bootup disc using the built in boot image from Nero, add GDISK to it and then once you've booted up, you type the command
gdisk /?
And you will subsequently see command line codes to do a disk wipe. Through trial and error you'll get this right unless you are already comfortable with command line structure.

Hiren's is the best tool and invaluable to have around.

some external hard drives comes with software that would enable you to backup entire files/folders with a single click or command. Some with a built in switch that perform the same action.
As for an entire OS, you said you want to "move" the entire system? I guess you can do this using a program like norton ghost, that will create an exact image of your OS and place it to your hard disk.

According to other sources (in Afterdawn) the problem lies with the media. Memorex
(Ritek) have apparently dumped a lot of cheap quality media into the market which
do not have a smooth layer transfer. Apart from that, I also noticed several badly
recorded discs (compared to some Mitsubishi discs I had earlier). Apparently these
are meant for the cheap Asian copy market (Ritek statement - search Internet
reviews). I now have to save up enough in order to buy those expensive Verbatim
discs (or use DVDShrink).

Personally, I feel that the disc manufacturers should get together with companies
like Nero and manufacturers of burners to solve such problems before dumping it onto
the consumers. This is irresponsible marketing (very common today).

is your hard drive the master on the primary cable? You shouldn't need a digital audio cable unless you want digital audio. Are you using Nero software witht he drive? may have to re-install the software, or better, uninstall it, clear the registry with CCleaner (free download on the web) and then try a fresh install.
