Hi Andy

With regards to "instruction" what exacty do you mean?? there are a few things that they do come with in the manual like focusing the scope, Weather its First or Second Focal Plane and maintenance.

Most people who just get a scope think the manual will tell them how to shoot. This is incorrect and if this is the information your looking for its known as Exterior Ballistics. Pls clarify a little and ill be happy to help

This various from scope to scope depending on one thing. weather or not the scope is Front Focal Plane or Secondary Focal Plane. Unfortunatley after a quick search i cannot find weather your scope is. it most likely is not. but you should check anyway.

From what i gather this is your scope

Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 713946 BDC Riflescopesyou can go into a shop and ask if this scope is FFP or SFP and weather or not that means to divide or not but take a look here. this will train you on the math of shooting. once done you can test your rifle

It might take a few tests but it can be done

    Test 1

    A) at 3x draw up the math to hit your target (this can be complicated if you dont have good weather measurements maybe get some accessories or find some1 who has them to help you out.
4 things need to be accounted for for weather. (Temp Humidity (easy parts) Barometric Pressure and Sea Level Reference) once this is done right if you set the math in and it hits the target your scope will work on 3x.

Test 2 Now test the same math @ power x9 if it hits your scope doesnt not need mathamatical adjustment between powers. if it doesnt you do.

Test 3 When test two was run it hit when test 1 was run it missed. you need to adjust on 3x your math is true on 9x

this test will not wok if you dont undertand what happens to the bullet inflight take the time and go through that whole thing i showed you.

when your done with the training @ shooter ready . com go into a range and GO TO THE FIRST RANGE this is important as it has no environmental variables to account for which lets you build up the basics. then from their branch out with weather. after weather there are a few special courses like Head winds and tail winds and shooting from an angle. (they are dispersed into all the ranges as the tuffer range make sure to check the conditions on each target on the ranges with environmental factors.

BONUS this shooter simulator has some experimental rounds like the .408 said to maintain more kinetic energy than the .50 from 400-1600 yrds??

comment if you need help :) and please rate this as useful if it was

lol i was extremely tired last night answering this and kinda missed something obvious. There are 3 types of scopes Hunting (Most likely yours) Tactical, and something else

the point is, is that hunting rifles tend to be a little simpler. Chances are if you adjust for range with that that you do not need to adjust on the different magnifications on that note there is a 90% chance when you do the test they will both hit with the same math (by this i mean just go to the range and pick a shot once you have it dialed in change power and if it doesnt hit in the exact same place then you have to adjust).

Question. if you use that to adjust for range how do you adjust for windage? does your rifle have recessed MOA adjustments (require a screw driver to use?) or are they easy to move knobs?(tactical)

    :S

Bushnell Banner .22 scope with loose part inside.

It would be better to replace the minute you disassemble a scope unless resealed with special equipment it will never function as well nor will it be reliable and for a bushnell by time you payed for shipping to and from a repair place you'd be at cost of new so might as get new one which has newer glass types that are vastly better than 20 yrs ago
