Question about Printers & Copiers

7 Answers

I am Pat. I have an MP210.I've had it about a year. I got a new coomputer and so had to have the necessary software to use the 210. I madw good copies and coomputer print outs. The black print light went on, but I more or less ignored it because I continued to get firm blacks. Then the black started to fade . I replaced the cartridge with a new one, but the print was no better. The nozzle check pattern showed good blacks. I did print head cleaning. there was no improvement in the check pattern. But copying still was poor. I tried removing and replacing the cartridge, but that didn' help. I don't know what I tried next, but I went to bed figuring that perhaps a fresh start would help It didb't. Now the alarm is on permanently and Ihave an E3 error message. There is no paper problem. I went from a 130 to this 210 precisely because of paper handling problems. Help!

Press resume botton for ten seconds or more .many a times the printer gets resetted and starts working. Procedure to reset Printer canon MP 210

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

if nothing gets solved.just replace the cartridges as you said you replaced black ,but also try replacing the colour cartridges.as E 3  error is most probably for paper jam in printer.but you said you checked for paper jam in printer.i suggest you to check out more clearly *** sometimes very small piece of paper is blocking the gears to forward and this creates the error.so check out more clearly at every visible position something should be blocking.as the reset procedure given .if not working for the first time.try couple of times more.because it happens sometimes that it does starty working for the first time but trying again and again makes printer working fine. thanks.

You should perform two head cleanings in a row. Then check it again. If that doesn't help, then do a deep head cleaning. Press the maintenance button repeatedly until you see a y. Then press the black button. Then check it again. If it's still having a problem, turn the printer off and let it sit for 24 to 48 hours, the ink may desolve off the head. Do another deep head cleaning after the time you let it sit. This should do it.

Hi Pat
Pull the power cord from the printer and the lead from the computer, then uninstall the software, power the printer up and reinstall the printers software, connect the computer lead when prompted, re-align the cartridges and print a test page, you may have to do this several times until the black ink comes through.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Remove the cartridges and check out if the colour cartridge is over then it can also show this error.or the hardware error in your printer can make this problem.

Did you already try unplugging power cable to reset the device? You might need to update the driver of the printer.

Hi!
There is a sensor on the right hand side of the printer uder the metal bar. There would be an  actuator arm which is up thus causing E3 error.
Carefully push a flexible ruler/similar thing from the top you would be able to dislodge any foreign objects in the paper feed.
Please dont try to get it from the front you ll break the sensor arm rendering your printer useless.

Also try and clean the printer rollers in Control panel->Printers & Faxes-> Right click on the printer-> printer properties -> maintenance->Clean the rollers.

If this doesn't help then try resetting the printer by---

    • Turn off the printer

    • Hold the Resume Button (red circle in the triangle), add a printer (click “Power”) an indicator light green.

    • Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button.

    • Not releasing the Power Button, double click “Resume” and release Both Buttons.

    • Click “Resume” for 4 times

    • Once you click “Power”, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber). To disable the printer “Power” button to click again.

    Please ask for any clarifications

    Thanks
    Rylee

Can't seem to put ink cartridges in the slots provided

This sounds like the cartridges are not for the MP210. Check the cartridge part numbers to make sure they are for the MP210.
Ink cartridges should go in easily and snap down in the carrier.

Scanning to computer with HP Photosmart C5200- How?

This forum is for Canon PIXMA MP 210 printers, if that is what your are trying to use HP software on it may not function properly anyway. Canon MP210 comes with scanning software that easily allows you to save a scanned image to the computer. It is called MP Navigator.

CANON PIXMA MP 210

The MP210 does not support Win98, and Win2000 driver doesn't work with Win98... so it's impossible to use this printer with an OS older than Win2000.
