I think holding down menu and the record button at the same time should fix it. I read the best solution and it just turned on. I was having the same problem, mine would not turn on either but just try pressing and holding down the record and menu button for about 5 seconds.
your battery has run out and needs to be charged that's why it is not turning on. connect it to a another usb port on your computer and it should be able to turn on and charge, it should work, if you still have problems, comment back.
Make sure your iPod Touch is completely turned off and unconnected from your computer. Hold down the Home button, and connect it to your USB cable. It will automatically turn on when you connect the cable. Just keep holding the Home button until the Connect to iTunes logo appears.
now the touch is in recovery mode and you can restore it with itunes.
Plug it into the computer (the cord you would use to charge it and transfer files), and hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. The Sansa should then begin to turn on and start charging. :)
