Sony DVP-V5315 Repair Help

Well, if the receiver came as part of the HT-1700D Home Theater system, they
list the dvd player as a DVP-NS315. I can't find any reference to the dvd
model number you gave.
If yours is a DVPNS-315 after all, then that would be a correct part number.

Yep, sure is. The model number of the reciever that it came with is
STR-K740P. Not sure what, if any, model nimber is on the speakers.

I looked up the part number you gave me on servicesales.sel.sony.com.
Do you know of anywhere I could find a picture of the part, to make sure
it's the same thing.

Sony models numbers can be funny sometimes. Is this the model number from
the back of the DVD player itself?
I looked it up on their servicer website and the model didn't come up.

The model number is correct, it came in a "Complete Home Theater"
package with a reciever and speakers.

I think that's probably a DVP-NS315.

There's probably not just 1 thing. Likely the main switcher is shorted, and
you'll need to check the other diodes, resistors, etc.
