Hey,

thats completely normal, make sure the fan and ventilation is working properly so it doesn't overheat.

I have a Hitachi CP-X417 projector that keeps blowing lamps. Smells like something is getting extremely hot.

It sounds like you may have a broken or inefficient / blocked cooling fan. Check the air filters and make sure it is very clean and dust free. Also listen to hear if the fan is running at what you think is a normal speed - not irregular or start / stop. If this is all ok then it may be an issue on the d.c power supply to the fan - don't spend more money on a bulb until you check this out.

INFOCUS LP350 WILL NOT POWER ON, SMELLS LIKE A CAP EXPLODED.

did the projector make a popping sound if so that lamp has shattered. the smell would be mercury and the projector will not switch on until the lamp has been reset.
depending if the projector was hot the hot glass may of stuck to the lcd screen so it may not work again.

Infocus X10 projector overheating.

okay most people think well its not hot up there but truely it is hot toward the cealing. If its overheating on the roof mount try to use a wall mount instead.. If they have it running for 5 days streight then is something your not oding right here and that might be the mount.

Becomes very hot within minutes of turning on.

There is a 400 watt mercury vapour lamp. Provided the fan is running it should get fairly warm to the point of almost too hot to hold your hand on. If you can smell burning plastic smell you should refer the unit to local service department for testing.

InFocus LP70 projector is running hot

clean the dust out of it with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. it also shortens the life of the lamp.

Projector problem

I have a great deal of experience with that projector in particular.
The burning smell along with the circle on the screen can be one of two thing in the same general area. Both are not good.
The lamp assembly has its own dedicated cooling fans. these fans can sometimes **** in dust and insects. the lamp runs at a very high temperature and can burn those things quickly. I have often found old lamps with particles fused to the glass.
The other situation is that the lamp burned something and it got stuck to the glass somewhere in the light path.
if I remember right the projector monitors the temprature of the bulb and will shutdown if it gets too hot.
Runco is based in california and has a great turn around time on projectors. Unfortunately with Runco you would be hard pressed to find a technician that wouldn't just send it to them for repairs anyways. The major down side with Runco is that customers cannot talk directly to engineers or service men.
Locate a Runco authorized retailer in your area, check runcoes site. and give them a call to see if they cant send it to runco for you. if you cannot find one in your area call Roscor or Blair & Associates in Chicago.

Projector smells hot

I have a Dell 2400mp 3,000 lumens. After you pull out the old lamp, find an air chuck, now be carfull, you want to make sure that there is no watter in the air line, trust me what can go wrong dose.<---. Now make shure that the air pressure going into the projector fan is not to much, for example 120psi would rip your projector appart. This was the best cure for mine, be carfull with those air cans also, they work well for alot of stuff, but projector fans are a little harder to get to. If you use an air can make shure to hold it in the position it would be if it were on a counter or sitting some other place. And do not put the screws on very tight. hammlet3@gmail.com
