Question about IBM ThinkPad A31 Notebook

1 Answer

Warning... continued Hi, I don't believe this is a virus and I run Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic as well as Virus scan from Avast. This IBM ThinkPad is loaded with XP Pro A 31 Series (Type 2652) P 3U, S/N99, 32P4414. When I say warning ... The whole system goes down and a ble screen appears with while type warning it will dump files and uninstall recently installed ... Also it says if I have not seen this message before reboot. Since I don't know what to do I rebiit anyway. A few years ago this message came up and I had to reframe my system. I installed Verivon software and the message again appeared. I again reformated to day one and spoke to Verizon. The patter is: videos trigger this shut down and NOT ALWAYS! It is fine when I play DVDs but I am wondering if it overloads the video card ... and need updates. Please Help ... I am as I type downloading some updated the=at correct "errors" but I don't see my situation mentioned. I am downloading them in hopes of inadvertently fixing it! Please can you help...I donot believe this is a virus or trogen. Mary

Hello Mary,

You seem to be getting what is called, the blue screen of death. This blue screen with white text can be caused by many things and I will provide a link for you to read at the end of this post. After reading the reasons the blue screen of death is occurring their should be some links ( on the site i will link you to) to places that may help.

My suggestion would be to start up in safe mode.
To do that you hit f8 on the computers start up. Then log in to the administrators account and un-install any reciently insatlled programs. ( the ones you installed and after received the blue screen of death.

Restart your computer and log in the normal way. Update everything ( even your drivers). And of course restart.

Once you have your computer working fine wiht outh the blue screen of death then add the programs installed one by one till you find which one is causing it.

AFter that feel free to post back wiht your results and I will be glad to help.

Tips To Clean Up A Computer Registry

The team is constantly giving the blue screen of death, or simply slow loading and crashing frequently? This situation happens to many users, and you have to learn to clean the computer record. 3 reasons below are usually the main causes of computer errors and slowdowns.

Spyware and adware

Computers that are permanently connected to the Internet it is likely spyware and adware on them. These are programs that are online sites where you surf team. Different spyware programs do different things on your computer, and its most common objective is to continue what you do. This information is transmitted to the main site and the user has no idea what just happened. All you need do is download a spyware cleaner and run the software. Remove all spyware on your computer and you can expect your computer run faster after that.

PC registry errors

90% of the time, computer problems and slow speed causes problems with your registration. The registry file on your computer to manage applications and hardware should be performed, and that the probability of errors in the register is very high, especially for users who have used computers a year. It 'important to constantly clean the registry of the computer to make sure the computer is in good condition. There are many software to scan your registry, and you should download one of them and clean up the registry. For a list of the top registry cleaners on the Web, visit the website link at the end of this article.

Viruses

This is another cause of computer problems, even if it is not very common. If you believe that your computer has a virus, you should find a good anti-virus software on your computer. Set a virus scanner to scan documents, especially those who have downloaded from the Internet. This includes files, including your own song or download this game, and even e-mail attachments.

One thing I would do is try to clean your computer's registry on my own. I remember my experience when "suspicious" that one of my log files was in the wrong place and started moving in my own back to their "place of origin." After that, My computer will not start more and I had to use a registry cleaner for my computer working again.

Help - my PC is using 4 minutes to start up !!

Could be a number of things-firstly, check the number of programmes that 'startup' with your computer & disable any you don't need. Also, could be a conflict between your various antivirus/antispyware programmes. Try disabling them one-by-one (apart from Avast) and see if that helps. Choose 1 good antivirus/2 antimalware/1 firewall. You can check how many of those are running by going into Security centre if you run windows. If your fan keeps running check incase there are any updated drivers for it. Hope this helps!

I have a dell latitude d350 it is a great computer but somehow it got spyware and tuns of virusus on it

disable system restore and delete the restore points and then update your anti virus and anti spyware defintions and run a virus and spyware scan in safemode.
How to disable system restore points and delete them
How to get into safe mode
Also what anti virus and anti spyware products are you using - if anything symantec then get rid of that and use avg free or avast ( register it for free and then its free for home use )
Also for anti spyware use spybot search and destroy as well as a squared
If you need specific links to those post back. If you need further info / help post back
Also if this resolves your issue please rate it as a fix.

Oh NO!

i have had this problem with mine and a few of my friends computers. they were dell. i couldnt get into safe mode or normal. so i got an external enclosure for the 2.5inch hard drive thats in them. so i would take out the hard drive and put it in the external enclosure and hook it up to another computer and save all the pictures and music and stuff like that on to my computer if i had space or another external hard drive i had. i always run a virus scan before i transfer anything. then i would format the hard drive a few times and reinstall windows and everything

Desktop and Task bar disappearing

You computer is infected by the spyware virus try to run in the safemode and download and install spyware doctor of pctools also the registry mechanic this two utilities is very helpful in term of spyware virus. But sometime if your computer infected by the UST.AVI virus you cannot install any program even the anti virus. The virus automatically close any program you install to prevent the anti virus to install in the system. If this happen the only way to salvage the files is reinstall the windows in the other directory then after you finished install windows. You can copy now the the files in the old directory copy of the windows your needed files. and delete the old windows directory permanently.
