Volume turns itself down on the sony dav-sr2

Intermittently turns the volume down without any assistance from me - which means the whole system is worthless - e.g. speakers etc - would be delighted if there were an easy (cheap) solution to this problem as I purchased my whole tv / music / dvd system when things were wildly expensive - and not that many years ago. Any assistance would be very gratefully received. Many thanks.

SOURCE: Sony Trinirton TV and DAV-HDX 275 System

Here are a couple of the most common reasons for your problem:

Make sure you have selected the right input source on the DAV-HDX275 that your TV station source (cable, satellite, direct TV or whatever you get TV stations from) is connected to on the DAV-HDX275.

Also make sure that if you are using a digital input (HDMI, optical, or coaxial) from the TV station source, that the DAV-HDX275 in set for a digital input and on the right source.

If you are using an analog source (red and white RCA jacks) for the TV stations , make sure you do not have the digital input activated for that source on the DAV-HD275. You need to select the analog option.

You must also be sure that you have a cable, whether it is analog or digital, connected from the cable box to the DAV-HD275.

I hope this was helpful to you, it is always very important to double check all the connections and make sure the stereo is set to the right type of input (digital or analog).

If you have found this to be helpful, a good rating is always appreciated. Thanks and let me know if you need any more help.

SOURCE: S-Sir Sub Unit won't pair

In order to properly pair the units, verify that the channel switch on the back of the sub units are set to either A, B, or C. Then go into the setup menu and go to setup tab. You can then scroll down to system setup. Verify that the base unit is set to the same channel as your sub units A, B, or C. You then can choose the pairing operation. Have your sub units close to the base and on for this operation. They must be linked to have the pairing operation work. The pairing option will ask if you are ready to pair a sub unit. Select OK. You will then be instructed to begin pairing. Find the pairing button on the back of the sub unit and depress. Depending on the sub unit you may see a red light flash or the front display will say pairing. Once complete the menu screen on the TV will tell you that the pairing is complete and ask if you would like to do another unit. Continue if you have another unit or select OK to complete the process. Once you return to the system setup menu the channel indicator A, B or C will have the work pairing next to it (i.e A (pairing)). If you continue to have trouble you can change the RF channel on the system setup menu from AUTO to ON. Good Luck. CEB

I have a Sony DAV S500 AV system and with certain DVD and with the volumn just over 20 (not really that loud), the system shuts down and PROTECT shows in the message window. I read somewhere on the web...

If the subwoofer and other speakers were included with the system, THAT is what they're designed for. Mixing and matching with other products is usually discouraged if not forbidden.

http://audio.manualsonline.com/search.html?q=Sony+DAV-S500

If the problem returns with connection of the sub it may be defective or on its way out. Internal damage to the voice coil from being overdriven could have melted or worn through the insulation and it would cause intermittent undesired electrical contact or load variation under certain conditions, like high volumes.

If your speaker level settings are unusually boosted for the sub you may be overdriving it.

Is the sound coming from the speakers you have installed, or from the speakers on the TV itself?

PROTECT

Well for the issue of the audio it usually protects when you are approaching the maximum that the internal workings of the system can handle. This also happens when it is overheating. Try to limit your maximum usage of the system to 5-10points below may.
