The lower paper tray came all the way out of the printer. I cant get it to go back in correctly. Ive tried several ways and each time it feels too tight and feels like im about to break it. It will get stuck in the printer (unevenly) and then I have to pull it out. I cant use the printer without the tray, so Im eager to get it back in. thanks

Your printer is working properly right .
Click this link from the picture you are talking about bottom paper tray right . It is just normal for the bottom tray to move with the unit .
I have already posted some more details in premium question which you have asked .
SOURCE: Kodak ESP9 all-in-one printer. unable to scan to doument
how do you scan your document are you using the buttons on the printer or are you using the computer and the home center software?
If your using the printer buttons I strongly suggest use the computer and its software the home center. Now if still not scanning and it takes time to scan. restart the computer and while the computer is restarting unplug the power cable of the printer., then do again the scanning if yur computer is ready.
If the troubleshooting did not solve it means the software or the home center is having a problem call kodak for assistance for the software toll free 1 800 421 6699., GudlucK

I had the same problem......TWICE! actually. I called customer service and they have sent me another printer each time without a problem but have to say that after replacing the 1st one it didn't really print clearly. I'm waiting to see what happens after I get the second one connected.
Same problem. I can force it in but am having paper jam problems
Help!
I have this problem right at the moment. I had it once before, a couple of years ago. What happened then, after about a day of on and off struggle, is that "all of a sudden" I was able to get the paper tray back in. I don't know what was different on that occasion, or if anything was. Right now I've been trying to get the paper tray to be accepted since about four hours ago, and while I have certainly gone off and done other things in the meantime, I still haven't been able to work it out. Nothing looks broken, jammed, cracked, or otherwise troubled. There are no error messages, other than the one about the printer not having paper in it. The paper tray simply won't load, either with paper or without it. I guess I'll have to call Kodak about this, but of course I'm super-busy right now, gotta print out some work-related materials (I'm a freelancer, and this is my only printer), and I don't have time for Kodak calls right now either. But what else can I do?
I have this problem right now. I had it a couple of years ago, but at that time, after leaving the printer and tray alone for a day, I was able to reload the tray as if nothing had happened. Today, it won't cooperate. Nothing is jammed, broken, cracked, messy, or otherwise evident; it simply won't load the paper tray with or without paper. Next step is Kodak Customer Serivce, I guess. I don't have time for it, but I have to get work-related materiall out for my freelance business, so I'll have to call and spend a city-block of time with this.
