Question about Sony KP-57HW40 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Free big screen, is it worth it to fix?

I got my tv for free recently; Model# KP57HW30. When I turn it on the screen is blue, the video signal shows in the corner and i can still switch inputs. After a few seconds the screen will fade out and and the set will totally shut off. I took off the back panel and checked it out. All three guns come on, the green one is almost immediately fuzzy and dims then shuts off, followed by both red and blue shutting off. The red light on the front blinks eight times. What could my problem be and can I fix it easily myself?
Thanx,
Jason

Take the front cover off.two hidden screw at each corner or on the sides .now take off cover in middle of set.two the right you'll find a small box , it will have 3 adjustments on the top and three more at bottom.the bottom ones are your screen controls.the middle is your green and on the right is the one you turn counter clock wise.warning ...turn that control a hair .that will solve the problem

Gv 42l power blue screen no signal

Yes, a cap will rarely cause this issue.

If blue screen set is ok power wise.

If blue when connections are made to rear inputs also it means it is not the tuner in the set---a good idea is to hook a DVD up, turn it on and then the set--select that input with the DVD already on--

That aside you may want to make the effort to call Vizio and see if this is a known issue or if a software upgrade is available for this issue.

If I had to "guess" it will be the main board that processes all signal inside the set.

Do some research with GOOGLE by model number "known problems" blue screen only etc.

I just recently bought a mitsubishi tv cs-32507 and all i can get it to do is show a blue screen.

The blue screen means there is no video signal, make sure you have your cable turner/dvd/bluray/home theatre/etc. plugged in and turned on connectors. For refference check your user manual.

Whole Screen Turns Blue in seconds....

This could be a problem with the Blue CRT it archs or overdrives intermittently. I would have a technician test the set and give you an estimate - if it's the CRT it's usually not worth repair- but it could be video or a screen voltage related problem. It's worth the estimate.

Tv monitor turns blue during forward or reverse vcr search

On some TV's the screen will go blue if there is not a strong, solid video signal present. This is to prevent the showing of very snowy or all snow channels, or garbled, mixed-up external video signals. This is normal. On some VCR's the video signal changes when the FF or REW search feature is used, and this could trigger the TV to go to blue screen. The only way around this if you can enter the TV's menu and turn off the blue screen feature.
