Question about Cisco (VG248) Gateway

Intermittent On/Off hook condition on single line phones on VG248

We have modems and single line phones hooked to the VG248. The modems function normally but the phones go off hook on their own and can interfere with incoming calls. This indicates it is a real off hook condition at the VG248 and the phones work fine when hung off a Nortel 81c. Is it possibly a voltage problem with the phones since these are using caller ID screens?

Simple,, its your filters. do you have one or two fiters fitted. one at the wall and one at the pc/laptop... unplug and plug back in. Sometimes this does work. if not you need new filter/s

When the incoming call goes off hook (the indicator lamp will be solid, not flashing), press the associated line button to see which extension, or device, answered the call. You can follow through from there.
Good Luck!

Free SMS software developer

Like Gnokii, Gammu is a free and open source command line tool that can be used to send and receive SMS messages from a computer via a mobile phone or GSM modem. Gammu was started based on Gnokii's experience but it evolves independently. Besides sending and receiving SMS messages, Gammu can be used to perform many different tasks such as reading and writing entries of the phone book and calendar, handling logos, loading ring tones, managing bookmarks, changing WAP settings, making data calls, etc.
Gammu supports mobile phones that can work in AT command mode. Like Gnokii, Gammu supports lots of Nokia mobile phones, even some of those that use Nokia's proprietary protocol instead of AT commands for communicating with a computer. A list of the mobile phones and GSM modems supported can be found on Gammu's web site.
If you are not an SMS software developer, you may want to use Wammu instead of the command-line Gammu. Wammu is a program developed with wxPython. It provides a good-looking and intuitive GUI, which is easier to use than Gammu. Some screenshots of Wammu can be found at here.
If you are an SMS software developer and want to write a program to send and receive SMS messages from a computer via a mobile phone or GSM modem, you may find Gammu useful. By making use of the functions of Gammu, you do not need to learn about AT commands in order to control the mobile phone or GSM modem. It is easy to write a script or program to drive the command-line Gammu in the background. Another choice is to use LibGammu, the back-end library that provides basic functions to Gammu.
In addition, you can find two pieces of software, Python-Gammu and Gammu+, on Gammu's web site. Python-Gammu is a Python module that allows software developers to get access to Gammu's functions in Python scripts. Gammu+ is a C++ version of Gammu. Gammu+ and Gammu are released under different licenses.

I received a head phone with my camera, how do I hook this up with my computer?

Most computer have 3 i/o jacks similar to what you see on an mp3 player/ipod, and they are usually color coded. Green is for headphones. Connect your headphone jack into the green port, or, if your jacks are not color coded, look for one with a headphone symbol.

I cannot get my laptop hooked up to the broadband internet..

ok well it is quite easy first of all you have to set up a network by telling the computer what you want to do .. but first check your lan card is working and enabled , or if it is by telephone dial up that your modem is installed .. we do this by going to start then , control panel then device manager on device manager you will see variuos devices with a + by the side of them .. select network adapters and click the + and the box will open you will see your installed devices.. if any have a question mark or an arrow then there is a problem if not all is ok just come out and we will continue .. Cisco AS5300 gateway FoIP problem

Once I had a problem with Ethernet auto negotiation, fax-es and AS5300. all links in fax IP path had to be set to fixed configuration (ex. 100 Mbps full-duplex).

Cisco equipment could not autonegotiate link speed by itself (VG248, C3550 and AS5350), so it tried every few seconds to re-negotiate ethernet link speed, and those extra packets broke fax transmision over IP. Voice worked OK, at the same time.

Hope it helps..

Tda-30 phone system

it does not require the inner pair to function unless it is an analog phone. It uses the out pair of wire or the black yellow if you are using phone cables. To make sure hook up both sets of wires and make sure you cord form the wall to the jack as 4 wires also.

I need to connect a real router with more ports to it 4-2 pcs

Connect the LAN port on the Barricade to the WAN port on your wireless router. The Barricade should be "plug-and-play",
i.e., no need to configure it. Similarly, the WAN port on the wireless-router is plug-and-play, so it should automatically get an IP-address from the Barricade.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Then, start Internet Explorer, and connect to the web-server "inside" the router. Run the "Wired Network Setup Wizard", and then the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard". When you're done, then your "wireless" device(s) (iPod Touch, laptop, XBox360) should be able to make a wireless connection.

Note: no need for any CDs to "install" anything.
