Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer
I've had nothing but problems since I bought this printer. It has to be rebooted after almost every use, I can only print max of 3 pics at a time before the pics go wonky, and the scanner has never worked. Now the AIO center stopped working altogether. Just the title would come up when I clicked on it, and nothing else. It wouldn't close unless I used the task manager. So, I uninstalled it, and dowloaded their clear utility thingy; I even went into my C drive and manually deleted the kodak stuff there. I even did a clean disk. But when I try to reinstall the program, I get an error message that says "The UI file is missing". I asked for help from Kodak, and after spending hours, they had me redo what I had already done, 3 times. I still got the same error message and they decided that it was not Kodak related; they said they would send me a new CD of the software, but that they were doing it in good faith because they dont' recognize the error message. The error message is FROM the Kodak All in One Printer software; it says it right on the heading. I'm so frustrated. If anyone is reading this and thinking of getting this product, save yourself a lot of headaches and pass.
Can anyone help?
I am using Windows Vista, Acer Aspire E380, AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz, 1791 MG ram, 32 Bit operating system.
Hi Kat. Can feel your frustration. Sorry.
The OS (Windows etc.) opens the UI file but I could not find out who provides it. It is a DEVELOPER file. It is a little over my head but I f you have the VISTA install disk. Save all of your important files, then have Windows reinstall itself. It wil tell you that "their is already a version of Windows installed , do you want to fix it" Say yes. Aftwer that I would again download the files and software I pointed you too and reinstall it. If it still doesn't work . I woudl take the printer back where I had purchsed it from and demand my money back as irt is not a compatable product as you were led it to be.
A UI file is a document that implements a single, specific ruleset API for a single, specific client type. For example, one UI file might allow text-based clients (such as Friv to play rock, paper, scissors, while another lets SVG clients (like Gamut) play chess.Clients locate and download UI files through the UI finder.
UI file logic is generally written in ECMAScript according to the ECMAScript API.
