K, I just looked at their site for another reason but they indicate that you need to make sure of the fuel, the on/off switch and also the spark plug (which I have personally seen) and dirty or clogged fuel lines. If you need to view the manual for the troubleshooting you can go to Poulanpro.com or call 1-800-554-6723. Good luck and let me know if you need more help

Your fuel cap isn't venting properly. The tiny sintered bronze pellet cast into the center of the fuel cap is plugged, allow a vacuum to form in the tank as the engine runs, finally starving the engine. That's why you hear the hiss of in-rushing air when you open the fuel cap. The pellet is too small and quite useless.

Remove and completely disassemble the fuel cap, including the rubber breather nipple retainer. From the outside of the cap, drill through or punch out the breather pellet. Assemble the cap and install.

Where can i find a service center to purhase a chain adjusting assembly for a poulan 2055 chain saw in the tampa area

Poulan Service Locater

An example of an IPL for a "2055 Gas Chain Saw Type 7" follows (may not be your saw):
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/2055-Gas-Chain-Saw-Type-7/75.2055-Gas-Chain-Saw-Type-7.1.59.1.html
See the "Handle, Bar and Chassis Assembly" print, item 29, $2.53

If not your saw, yours can be found here:

The dash number of your serial number is the type. HTH

Yes i cracked the oil housing for my poulan pp4218avx 42cc chain saw and I was wondering if they sale a replacement housing to repair the saw.

A Poulan PP4218AVX Gas Saw link follows:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP4218AVX-Gas-Saw/75.PP4218AVX-Gas-Saw.1.59.1.html
See the "Handle, Chassis and Bar Assembly" print, item 38. Is this what is broken? If yes it is possible to replace it, it is not terribly expensive, it is a great deal of precision work. I hope you already removed the clutch (left handed thread). I would probably keep this for parts and purchase a PP4218AVHD Gas Saw Type 2 as a replacement. HTH

Chain moves while idle

Hello there. Regarding the bar oil, many loggers plan their work so that they are out of bar oil at the same time that they quit for the day because bar oil has a tendency to leak. Another method that has some success is to mix your bar oil with a heavier oil but the trade off might be less lube getting to the chain when you need it.

Regarding the chain moving in idle, this is another common problem. You can usually slow the idle down until the chain stops, as you indicated, but I too have had chain saws where I finally just decided to live with it and be extra attentive to what was going on.
