Question about Sylvania 6620LDT 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television

DVD player keeps spitting out discs not sure why

I have had this TV DVD combo, a Sylvania 6620LDT, since Thanksgiving 2007 with no problems, then two days ago it starts spitting out discs, no matter what they are, new or otherwise, and it takes great effort to get a disc to stay in the player. They seem to play okay once engaged. I tried a telstar cleaning disc and the same thing happens, even after the cleaning. Since it is a top loader, which is in my opinion a design flaw (should be a side loader), I'm thinking some dust might have migrated into the slot somehow, but that might not even be a problem. Sylvania said it needed to be reset, so I will try that, but perhaps someone can explain to me what causes the unit to spit out discs like that?

SOURCE: The DVD player is in constant eject mode - discs

Two possible scenarios: First the optical pick up assembly that read the disc has malfunctioned or the eject button is faulty. Either way it is just cheaper to replace the DVD player with a standalone dvd player connected to one the tv input(s). Too expensive to repair just the dvd player if it is tv/dvd combo. The cost for labor and parts is more expensive these days to repair tvs or dvd player. For around $30 you can just replace...much more cost effective.

DVD player problem

You may have had a brief power outage you did not know about. Then the DVD player needs to be unplugged from the wall and started up again or your lens may need to be cleaned Because your dvd player is only made to play region 1 discs and vcd's are region 2. You need to buy a dvd player which will play all region discs or is rated region 0 which is the same. www.dvdenergy.com/index.htm

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
