Hi there.
Restart the PC and hit F8, you will get a sub menu, select safe mode and perform a system restore and take the computer back to before you uninstalled the program. there will be a window to that effect if you are using XP or Vista

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

    Oh dear
You now have to recover the OS (operating system) because the windows 32 directory is corrupt, do you have an option to hit F11 on boot or have you any recovery CD's that you got with the computer when new?

Make sure you have the correct recovery disk in the drive, go into the system bios (F2 on start up) select the CD rom to be the first boot device, press F10 save and exit, the computer will restart and start to boot from the cd , it may ask to press any key to boot from cd, once it loads follow the on-screen instructions, if you have the option to perform a non destructive recovery take that option, other wise you will loose all the data that was in your documents folder and everything else, so please be warned about this important fact.

    Good luck once again

Hi David,

You need to reboot the notebook and press the F8 key when you see the windows logo. Select the last know good configuration and allow the system to boot. If this does not fix your problem. I would suggest to reload XP. Do you have your OS cd. You an do a refresh on Windows XP without lossing any data. The menu will tell what to do.

I hope this help, please rate and post results.

How can i delete k9

If you are talking about the protection software..the procedure is just like any other program ...go to control panel ...engage the add remove software...(or remove programs for windows 7 the program in the list ..and click remove ..
If it refuses to uninstall itself ..try a few times...make sure it is deactivated from the tray system icon (click right on it and disable or exit ) and try again ..If it still refuses to remove itself ..go to computer (my computer ) C ..and program files...In there locate the folder named k9 or named after the company that made it ..and delete that folder ..If refuses to delete ..just open it and delete them one by one ..until it will be non functional ...After that go back to add/remove software in control panel .. and try to remove again if it is still there ..Usually windows will see it corrupted..and will propose to delete it ..

I have an extra toolbar on my laptop screen

Hi, there are two ways. One way, is through Add/Remove Programs. And the other way is through Internet Browser by Openning the browser and Clicking Tools/Manage Add-Ons/Toolbars (on left pane)/ Highlight Which Toolbar you wish to Delete, and hit Delete (towards bottom of screen). I always do both methods. I also recommend running the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Tool to make sure there aren't any kind of Virus present. Here is the link to download the free software:

Document viewer keeps coming up to install

This may be a Virus/Trojan Horse or similar Item.
I,d suggest scanning the Computer, for Viruses And Malware.
Failing this, try and note down the name of the Program thats asking to be installed. Go To Mycomputer/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs. and try removing it from There.
if it,s not Listed it,s probably a Virus, wanting you to connect to the internet to download the rest of the harmful software.

Need help

That means that the system had been damaged by the uninstall operation.

Try to start the computer in safe mode, by pressing F8 on startup.

If the computer starts in safe mode, then do a system restore from Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System tools>>System restore.

If system does not start in safe mode, then you willneed to reinstall windows, either using recovery CD or using a generic Windows setup disk.

Hope this helps in fixing your problem.

Pc virus

Dear mosrt,

If you have a bunch of anti-spyware programs poping up when you turn on your PC, you may have a bad case of OEM preinstalled software. This type of software is generally easily uninstalled so make a list and start uninstalling from the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

Good luck!
