Question about Epson Stylus CX7800 All-In-One InkJet Printer
The SX205 is a bit of a pain to use. There doesn't seem to be a way of changing an ink cartridge unless the printer decides it wants to let you. I managed it by employing fairly brutal tactics. I opened the lid to expose the works, switched the printer on, and with my finger over the switch at the mains socket I waited while the printer went through its start-up procedure, then when the ink carrier was in the right position to make a change, I quickly switched the power off. You have to be really quick to catch it in the right position, and you might need to try more than once to get it right. After changing the cartridge, I switched the mains back on, then switched the printer back on, and everything worked OK after that. It seems crazy that Epson hasn't incorporated a way of doing this into the design. Its certainly the worst Epson printer I have owned from the point of view of ease of use. Photos from it aren't very good either. Dinty

My sx205 is feeding the paper through when i ask it to print but it is not putting any ink on the paper - even though the cartridges are full man it recognises they are full. Any ideas?

Def sounds like a driver error, do you get a yellow mark next to your printer driver or is it ok?
You could try & see if there is a more recent driver from epsons website

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.
In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.
That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.
So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......
I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.
This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.
Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Usually when this happens the printer fails to goes through
the motions of the printing process, kind of stands still with indicator lights
just blinking away. This could be as a result of either of these scenarios.
i. Ink cartridge has developed incompatibility or is incompatible
The Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because of this type of problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come in handy for this type of troubleshooting.
ii. The Cartridge electronic panel is dirty
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. This electronic panel is front part of the cartridge with copper “dots”.
The Solution is to try to clean this panel with a piece of folded tissue paper soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also try to clean the area in the cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic panel (Usually this is more difficult). If you cannot reach it with your fingers, use a stick or something with tissue wrapped around it. Allow to dry well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if the electronic panel is the issue. Once the blinking stops the printer will print.
