NEC MultiSync VT540 not turning on - Temperature error

Hi,

I found an old NEC MultiSync VT540 and I am unable to turn it on. The Power light is steady Amber & the status light is blinking red (4 sec interval).

-The projector is not warm
-Cleaned the both air filters
-Pressed the HELP remote when the projector was in standby for 10 seconds
-Removed & re-inserted the projector Bulb (It does not look burned out or broken)

The user guide does not state how to fix this issue. Any tips on what else I can try would be appreciated. I do not know how many hours are on the bulb itself.

Hi
if the status light is blinking red in 4 sec interval it means that there is something wrong with cooling system. you shold check if there is a thermostat failure or if there are any switches that are not turned on. i suggest you to open the device (using screwdriver) and check if there are any switches broken or damaged.

i had pretty much the same problem (one second interval). i took off the cover and there was a broken switch and i just short-circuit it and now it works

Sorry for my english

VT540 projector does not receive the input impulse from the laptop..... just a blue screen

try the Factory Default that's located in the User Menu... located at Image Options Menu, which is in the Advanced Menu. what this does is reset the settings and/or adjustments to factory preset levels.

Simple.
Press the Help button on the remote control for a minimum of 10 seconds while in standby mode. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the STATUS indicator goes out.

Steady red status light on NEC VT45 projector. Would not POWER ON. LAMP was replaced with a new one

the power supply on that model seem to go bad after a while. the caps aren't properly reted it's power needs. they dry up. if you are good at soldering, replace c1 on the board (big cap) with a cap that has a slightly higher voltage rating. or replace the whole power supply. you might not be able to get one from nec, but you can try www.projectordoctor.com

Nec projector vt440 wont turn on

Hello. First check the lamp! From your description, it sounds like the projector is telling you that the lamp needs to be replaced. In "eco mode", when the power is green and the status is steady orange, that is the error message. In "high brightness mode" the status will be steady red. Hope I helped you.

Pink tint when usig the RGB component cable

Check the green signal lead - if one of the RGB leads doesn't make good contact, the picture will take on an odd tint that doesn't always look like it's missing one of those colours. For some reason, the green is always the most common one to fail.
