Question about KDS Visual Sensations 551 (White) 15 in.CRT Conventional Monitor

1 Answer

Screen is off-center

The picture on my screen is slightly off-center, so that I can't see the left side. In Internet Explorer, for example, I can't see the ''back'' button or the word ''File'' on the tool bar. How do I adjust this setting?

Need the operation manuel for my 22inch Gateway monitor can't change operating language

I have a smaller sized Gateway monitor than yours, but I'm sure the monitor buttons (on the front) perform the same functions on all sizes.

You should have eight control buttons on the front of the bezel (as listed from left to right): source, menu, down arrow, up arrow, left arrow, right arrow, auto/set, and on/off buttons.

Press the menu button, the first dialog screen that appears (at least on mine) is the brightness/contrast function. The screen will show the function to be changed, and a very small picture of what screen you have in view.

Once the first function is listed on the screen, press the down arrow to access the other screens (color, tracking and set-up), each having their own little picture indicating what screen you are looking at.

Brightness/contrast - picture of half light, half dark circle
color - RGB picture
tracking - two squares on top on one another slightly off center
set-up- hand pointing left

You want the set-up screen which shows a picture (I think) of a little hand pointing to the left. Once you are in the set-up screen, press the auto/set button and the first line will be highlighted (usually it is the language choice).

Once highlighted, press the right arrow button until your language name appears (i.e., English, Duetsch, Francais, Espanol Italiano, -there is no choice on mine for Japanese, etc.).

Press the menu button again and that should do it.

The top part (about one third) of my SyncMaster 920LM screen is brighter than the rest and seems to retain simultaneously the new and the previous picture for 2 to 3 seconds before it gradually fades out...

This is usually do to a section of your controller chips dying. This is not fixable by the end user, the only thing I could say to try is to try different resolutions to see if you can reduce the issue.

What is the best setting on adell 24

The issue is relative to the native resolution of the monitor. in most 24" monitors the resolution is 1920 x 1200. When you get an application that is shown in the upper left corner of the screen, it is most likely set in a page frame of 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768. Also many web pages will display with large amounts of white space on one or both sides.
This you can do to help.
Set the DPI setting in display properties to 120 will help some making small type more readable.
Pages that are in Internet Explorer can be zoomed to appear larger zoom feature in bottom right corner of IE window (or CTRL & + and CTRL & - key combinations)

There is a black 2 1/2inch bar on leftside of screen how do i adjust is?

if your lucky it's just your H-center is off tilt. to check this Press the menu button on your monitor. scroll through the options till you see Horizontal-center option. select this setting and move the screen to the left. The entire screen should start shifting to the left and fill in the screen. now if you do this and you get a black bar on the right. Center the screen where you have the same amount of black on both sides of the screen. scroll through your menu till you see the H-size. increasing this will fill in the black area. Hope this helps.

Screen display

You have control buttons for the OSD either on the bottom or the side of your monitor.

Push and enter the set up and push buttons until you see the arrows that move the screen up or down, right or left.

Your model may have one of the buttons marked automatic. If so, pressing that one will center the display on your monitor.

Split screen in two halves

wierd problem.

Smack the monitor around a little to see if there are any bad connections.

Tap it on the sides and the top. If the picture changes, you will have to either check and repair the board or take the unit in for service.

If it doesn't, then it sounds like there may be a problem in the horizontal sync circuit of the monitor. Since it is intermittent, it may be tough to solve.

Be sure to try it on another computer to make sure the fault is the monitor.

Objects on screen out of window

CRT monitors suffer from the so-called pincushion effect. It is the curving of the actual video picture usually inwards on the sides. There is often an adjustment to compensate for this and it's usually situated near the other user controls. Look for it in you manual.

Now, because of magnetism differences in the world. The monitor is setup to work where it was built. The pincushion effect get worse over time. The degree of severity depends on the location of the monitor and the quality of the design of it to facilitate enough future re-adjustment by turning the pincushion knob.
