Question about Hitachi 42PD6600 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Just helping a friend of mine who at this moment don't have access to the internet, confused and very worried . Less than a month ago he purchased a 52" Hitachi HDTV.
While watching last night, he thought he heared glass cracking and
soon saw a crack on the inside glass of the screen. Right away he unplugged the tv and took it back to Visions electronics. According to the manager at Visions, cracked/broken screen is not covered by their warranty. My friend was given a number to call instead. My friend for sure believes that the screen is cracked from the inside. Is this a manufacturer defect? Anybody experience the same thing? If the crack is inside the screen I'm sure it's a defect dont you think? any help is appreciated. Many Thanks!

It sounds like a shutdown circuit is being activated. This is normal in cases where the power supply id drawing excessive current. I would suggest that you get this looked at by a qualified professional. This is because this problem may be in the power supply and the voltages can get dangerous in this section of the TV set.
In any event if this is a power supply problem chances are the technician will just have to replace the power supply. Which should cost from 150-250 dollars.
I hope this helps

I would call Hitachi at 1800-HITACHI and see if they could refer a Service Facility to you to help. The cost of the LCD Panel is extreme, ( 800.00 to 900.00 or so.) and Hitachi probably will not deal direct with you because of the type of part that it is.
But you never know.
I hope this helps,
