Question about Metal & Voltage Detectors

1 Answer

Instruction booklet for Vector 090 battery charger lost. lWhen I program to charge my lawn mower 12 volt battery, the charger runs for about 10 sec. then tells me it is fully charged. The battery is not totally discharged because it will attempt to turn the motor over but I am pretty sure the battery is not fully charged. Without the insturction booklet I can't figure out why it is telling me it is fully charged.

I dont have a manual available but I would sugest you take the battery to an auto parts store and have it tested, for free. My guess is that it has exceeded it's life.

Installed new gkl211 battery wont operate

Check the battery with a load such as a 12 volt bulb to make sure it has true power not just a surface charge that goes away quickly.
Re-charge battery and clean contacts on the laser with a pencil eraser.
If none of that helps there is an internal problem with the unit, find your local Leica dealer and contact them for an estimate.

I have a yamaha big bear atv 1998 2 wheel drive and do not know if my battery is being charged by the alternator. how do i test the alternator to see if is is opperating properly

you need to run a multi meter on your alternator to see if its providing a charge to the battery.your manual will have the specs for the voltage that the alternator should provide.

I have a model SE826 6/2 amp charger i just dont under stand the gage some times te needle is on the top half scale and other times it is on the bottom scale I guess i need to know what the needle is...

When the batt is very low, the needle should show high amperage flow, red zone or high number. As the charge builds up slowly in the batt, then the needle will slowly move lower or green zone as less and less is flowing into batt. As it fills, it will fill more slowly.

Sometimes when batt is very low, it may take some time for the flow to get going, so it may look low to begin with, then go higher after half to one hour. This might also indicate a battery going bad but not gone yet.

A car battery on 6 amp will take several hours to fill. On 2 amp maybe 2 - 3 days.
If you find it looks like batt is full quickly and then fails to provide enough power, it means a part of the battery is defective which is hurting all of it, and whole thing must be replaced.

Can I use a standard hand held battery tester to check the batteries and charging system in my travel trailer. The tester is a I35 AMP Battery Load Tester.

You can teat the battery with this, but you need a volt meter to test the charging system. Your battery should have about 13.5 volts when the ehicle is running.

I drained my battery by leaving a ionizer plugged into the cigarette lighter. The car had been left for 6 days without me driving it. Now it is recharging from empty - can you tell me how long it will take...

This depends on the size and amp rating of your battery and the rating of your charger. On a 10 amp charger you should be good in about eight hours. On a engine that starts easily you probably can start in much less time if you are going to be running engine long enough to charge system on your car to finish the job. I would recommend checking the battery after you get car started to make sure it is charging properly. Charge rate should be around 13.5-14.3 volts. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Turn selector switch to volts D.C. and set range to next highest setting for the batteries you are wantimg to test. For example 25 volts if you are testing a 12 volt battery. Touch positive ,normally red probe on positive side of battery + sign, and negitive on - side, black probe. Hope this helps. Thanks

When I place the charger on my 6 volt battery to charge the black handle gets extremely hot, why?

Probably a weak connection. Clean the clamping surface and the battery connection surface and try again.

No problems, just got one,and the instructions were not furnished,is there a simple way to use the tester?

Well you have a nice little battery tester there, they all work pretty much the same. It usually tests between 7-14 volts. You can test just about any type of batter with it. Maintenance Free, AGM, Gel Cell, and others. For a pdf' manual, they are usually attainable thru the manufacturers website. And it is : http://www.cloreautomotive.com/techdocs/L00108%20SOLAR%20BA%20Series.pdf
