You might want to plug it into itunes and update/format the whole thing. You'll loose whatever's on there unless you're able to use "expod" or some other ipod-2-comp software, but if you can't get it to start at all, you'll end up loosing your media anyways. I'd try that, see if reformatting and updating firmware will help.

Hmm. =( I'm sorry I'm not much help here. You can take it to an apple store and they'll do a full diagnostic on the ipod, see what's going on. People say you can't download a virus to an ipod but when you use limewire, it's easy to. It could be that problem. I used limewire once to get this song my brother loved, but it was a faulty mp3 and I ended up having to reinstall mac os. It was a virus.

What do i do if my ipod nano 4th gen froze

Hi

Try and reset the ipod by--
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Hope this helps...

My ipod (5th gen) the screen is stuck on with do not disconnect on yhr screen and it wont turn off , or do anything its froze how do i restart it /

Have you tried resetting it? Try holding down the menu and middle buttons at the same time and the ipod should reset itself. Also check and see if the hold switch is on. You need to make sure that it is off in order for the buttons to work.

Model A1136 - What generation is this please.

It's an iPod Classic, 5th gen. Another way to tell gen:

4th gen = no video support

5th gen = video support, U2 on the box, no search function under music menu

5.5 gen = video support, longer battery, "search" under music menu, Johnny Depp/Red Hot Chili Peppers on the box, brighter screen

The screen says: connect to power supply, Itunes does not recognize the ipod and i cannot get it to respond to any command

I had the same problem and I just got it fixed by pressing the menu button and center button at the same time for about 10-15 sec. Apple sign showed up and a few seconds later it turned on. It works fine now. Try this. Good luck

I want to know which generation is the Ipod 30G model A1136, thanks

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

Press and hold the center button while holding down on the menu button. This will reboot the Ipod.

Next load the ipod into the computer. When Itunes loads up, select your Ipod and press the restore button on the screen of Itunes.

Ipod Nano Second Generation

Try resetting the ipod, this usually works. As follows: How to reset iPod To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: iPod nano (3rd generation) iPod classic iPod (5th generation) iPod nano (2nd generation) iPod nano iPod with color display (iPod photo) iPod (Click Wheel) iPod mini iPod mini (2nd generation) Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector) Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button. When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on. Good luck, and I hope this helps.
