    oh... great...
i haven't overclocked it, the card runs on its basic preferences. i only download the updates and play. so i guess its the voltage or the heating but overheating wasn't an issue till now and its been nearly a year... maybe the cooler is dying? how can i check the voltage? i don't even know what should be normal...

thanx for the help but the problem is worse than the dust... the fan is/was broken and smaller than it should be and can't be changed to a better one thanks to powercolor...and warranty is over so i have to buy a new one...i hate that company...
    thanks for the help again!

Hey,

I'm sorry the video card has a hardware problem, have you overclocked it?

the card froze and stoped responding to the commands from the driver. so it had to reset.

This can happen if the card is damaged, by overclock, or the clocks are too high, voltage too low or too high, this is all related to overclocking.

But this can also be caused by overheating.

Ok, nevermind the voltage.. thats just if you overclock, overclockers adjust the voltage to get higher speeds from the card..

    Nevermind that.

You can open the case of the computer, first unplug all cables.

have a look at the fan, if its covered in alot of dust, use a vacuum cleaner to **** out the dust. then you can power on the computer again, you could look at the fan and see if it works properly..

it will probably rotate slowly when you are starting windows, some fans only go to full speed when there is enough heat on the video card.

Black Screen when playing 3D games on ATI Radeon 9550 X1050 Serie

the game resolution is not supported by your monitor....this is the reason your screen goes blank....
by the next time if the screen goes blank, press alt+ctrl+del together and check are you able to see the task manager....
if you can see the task manager, then close the game from that window by selecting end task....
if you cant see the task manager, then press ctrl+alt+del together 2 times and check....
if nothing works, then try by checking with any HD monitors if available with you or with your friends...

Vpu recover

How do you know your motherboard is for ati.

The vpu is like a processor for a computer but it runs the video card.

Are you sure you loaded the right drivers for your operating, are you sure the card can run on your system.

This error suggest the wrong drivers are installed or it can't run on your system.

You can enter your bios and try to turn off vpu recover and clock down agp to 4x

Read the system spec for the card and make sure you have them.

Then see if you have the vpu in your bios, make sure you have the right drivers, post back if your sure you have everything right, but still have a problem.

Post the brand of motherboard and model.

VPU recovery problem

I had the same problem (sorry for my English). Ive installed all the updates for XP, then i updated my drivers to top, but it doesn't work. BUT! I was installing drivers without ATI panel, only the driver. The last version of drivers on time of writing the post is 27/01/10 (catalyst 10.1 or something, dont remember)- installing this helped the video to run for an hour, copmparing to 4 minutes before using this drivers. After being stopped again(DAMN), i ve decided to slow down the clocking of card in ATI panel- originally it was 650-400 MHz, then ive made it 400-400 and black screen of death dissapeared for ages. I had very much troubles with this, so i hope it would help somebody. Dont feel any differience in games.
the only thing for thinking is the count of triubles with this card- like ATI_AMD cant create a stable hardware.

if you can reach the setup of the game before the screen freezes, go to the games setup and configure the video or graphic setup to match your graphic card or if this does not work do this 2nd solution. check for an updated driver of your graphic card and make sure you have a directX 9.0c

No display

you need to boot to safemode and reset your resolution it sounds like someone has set the resolution higher than the monitor can support, just press F8 right after the post screen goes away when you turn it on, then select safe mode, once in safe mode go to your display settings and set the res and color depth to a low settings ie. 800x600 or 1024x768 then reboot and it should work

Check connections, Hertz rate, and settings (if you can read them). Otherwise, it may be time to whip out the cash and get a new monitor and/or computer.

Go to ATI/AMD & download the latest driver package for your Radeon HD2400 video card. Download Catalyst Software Suite
File Size 35.2MB. Date Posted Apr. 16, 2008

If there are still problem while playing the game. Lower the games graphics settings. or move up to the 512MB card.

Screen periodically goes blank for about a second

This is probably the VPU resetting itself. The radeons have the option in the control panel for allowing the VPU to reboot itself if it hangs. Could be a sign of insufficient juice from the PSU or insufficient airflow allowing the card to get too hot. I had to change my cheap 550W PSU to a better quality 500W unit to get enough current (amps) on the 12V rail for my AMD CPU and radeon cards. Cheaper PSUs tend to have high current 3V3 and 5V rails but poor 12V capability.
