Same thing here... I rebooted the computer and installed all the drivers and everything. The wireless radio is turned on, however when I go to find and wireless networks it tells me that I don't have my wirless radio on and I need to turn it on. I would ask dell but unfortunatly my warantee has expired and I don't want to spend money for one little problem.

it may have one or several issues about failure in connecting to the internet. Can you specify with details? can you join your wireless network without reaching the internet? if you can't even join your wireless network, please, provide your OS and router brand.

SOURCE: My Dell Inspiron 1300 wont start

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

SOURCE: can't enable Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

I was using the wireless network, disabled the radio and after reboot was unable to get it to save the enable click. After reviewing all software options listed here - checked wireless adapter setting in BIOS - it was turned off! Turned this on in BIOS and upon boot was able to access wireless network again. Hope this helps you.

Have wireless internet but no connection to laptop. where's the switch on the laptop to turn it back on?

Hi !

Most of the laptop wireless switch is on the side of the laptop. If there is no physical switch, press the Fn+F2(wireless symbol) to enable the laptop. Double check the wireless LAN if enabled in the system setup. To access system setup, press F2 while the system is booting-up.

Hope this helps !

Thanks.

Can't enable Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

I had the exact same problem and went through the same steps that he did. It was only when I searched for a physical wireless switch (on the left side of my Dell D630) that the problem was solved. I didn't even know it was there and must have inadvertently knocked into the off position.

My Dell Inspiron E1505's wireless switch is off.

This happened to me using a Dell Inspiron laptop. The wireless switch was disabled and the answer was supposed to use both the blue Fn and regular F2 function key to enable wireless connection. I tried Fn and F2 together and it did not work. I tried just F2 alone and it worked.

Wireless router radio button disabled

On dell inspirons it isn't a switch, but there should be a button on the keyboard in blue. You need to hold down the blue Fn button, then hit the button on the keyboard that has a wireless icon in blue. Usually it is Fn+F2.
