Will not drain

The drain hose for the dishwasher needs to exit above the 'P' trap. You also need to elevate the drain hose approx 32 inched up from the floor to create a drop for the water to exit.

Have a bosch dishwasher Mod. No. SGI53A55AUSS installed March 2004. All filters clear, exit pump clear and working. Switch on washer can hear exit pump working but machine does not accept water to fill....

Hello,

You said you had water under the dishwasher, did you remove the lower panel below the door and check for water in the base frame as well. Bosch dishwashers have system in the base frame that detects water in base and cuts power off to every component except drain pump till it no longer sees the water in the base.

Hope this helps

Dishwasher is draining during the wash cycle, but leaves water in the bottom at the end of the wash. What could be the problem?

Hello Ellsaesser,

Dishwashers typically leave water in the drain system exitting the pan but not a lot of water. If yours does then make sure you clean the drain screen ( normally located in or around the drain tube exitting the pan of the dishwasher..) If after cleaning that and after a normal wash cycle you continue to have significant volumes of water in the pan, the pump, lines leading to and from that pump may be restricting flow or damaged.. Those are a few of the normal culprets for why there is a lot of water in the pan of dishwashers after a cycle.. Hope that helps you identify the problem and resolve it,..,
Regards

Smoke comes out of top right corner during wash .whirlpool dishwasher model # GU1200XTKQ0

This is most likely steam. To allow water to enter the machine, air needs to exit. It exits through this vent. As the machine heats the air inside expands and exits along with the steam from the hot water and you are seeing it come out through the vent. No wories they all do this. Have a safe day.

Westinghouse SB907 - Water draining out right after filling up

The drain hose has to have a loop in it. In other words as the drain hose exits the dishwasher, it must go up at least 18 inches before it goes down into the drain. If not, the water will siphon out of the machine.

Miele dishwasher g664 12 years old maybe?

Hi Lawrenceo,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

You stated your problem as: the dishwasher won't drain.....can here a valve opening and gurgling but then no water exiting. Have cleaned everything and pushed water via tap back through water-exit hose.I to have a Miele G664 dishwasher and when turned on no water no fill. Just sits there with a moter running. Un able to get anyone to come and have a look at it as I live in Mount Victoria NSW.
It sounds like the pump has failed. The motor and the pump are two different parts. This is a common problem with older units. Frankly, after 12 years of use, at least you got your money's worth. At this age, to repair it is to throw good money after bad. It's time o replace it. You'll find there are much nicer models available now.

No air gap device

If you are installing a dishwasher as a permanent appliance into cabinetry, drill a hole up near the top of the cabinet ( near the back) and route the drain house thru this hole over to your drain connection.. An air gap is formed by bring this hose up high and looping it down to the drain tie in.. This wil keep some water in the dishwasher below and act as a gas trap so no gases get into or out of the dishwasher.. If you are using a protable dishwasher.. by merely placing the drain hose ( that normally exits near the back/bottom of the dishwasher ) into a sink.. you have formed an air gap in the same manner.. as long as the drain hose is raised up and over a high point in the cabinet and doesn't allow back siphoning of water into the dishwasher.. you are all set.. Hope that helps..

DISHWASHER AEG 80860

Just fixed a similar problem on an AEG F3A by following other advice on this site. Simply tip the machine forwards on to its door (best empty it of crockery first!!!).and then put it upright again when water has stopped dripping out of it. You wil get quite a bit of water on your floor which I reduced by pumping the water out of the salt resevoir first - but if you don't have a pump just have several towels handy
