Not sure what is going on with Microsoft Live. However sounds like you need some protection for online. So where is what you need to do. Uninstall M Live, by going to control panel and then finding the program and completely uninstall it. Reboot your computer and install go to Avast.com. Download the home version. It is free for 14 months after you register it. It updates every day on it's one. It works and it is free.

I hope this helps. Please rate.

HAL.DLL is missing or corrupted, xp doesn't boot

if it was running for more than 30 hours, it wasn't doing much. You can try copying hal.dll off of a known, good-working XP pc, and replace it with the one on your broken PC. It's better if you extract it from i386 folder but grabbing it from another pc should work fine.

This can be a Virus because Viruses can destroy data and information and even steal them. They are also capable of damaging or destroying software. Try reinstalling MS Word and have a good AniVirus software installed at your PC. Make sure you update the AntiVirus and scan your PC regularly, Keep your MS Windows updated

Error code 646

Hello Titan,

Try to disable your firewall. If you’re using McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, F-Secure Internet Security, Norton Internet Security or another Firewall vendor, see its respective support page for assistance in disabling it (temporarily). If you’re using the built-in Vista Firewall, keep reading.

* Open the Control Panel and select Security.

* Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

* Select Off (not recommended), click Apply and then OK.

* Back at the Windows Update screen, click the Try again button.

* The download(s) and installation should start…

* and this time successfully install. If a restart is required, make sure to re-enable your Firewall once your PC restarts.

* Though this solution will work for most Vista Update errors

Ms paint stop working

There doesn't seem to be an easy way to reinstall MS Paint. Other people in the same fix were told to try this as a substitute:
http://www.getpaint.net/download.html

If I were in your shoes, though, I wouldn't worry so much about Paint. I'd worry about whatever caused the corruption, and is anything else corrupted? This may be a good time to try some free anti-virus/anti-spyware software and make sure you don't have problems from that quarter. If you don't have any antivirus software, this one generally works for me, and has reasonably good reviews:
AVG Free edition, http://free.grisoft.com (keep going through menus to get the free one; they really try to market the paid version.)

There are several good anti-spyware programs out there. Make sure you update before running scans. The two that have worked the best for me:
Spybot S&D / Spybot Search & Destroy, scroll down a bit here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Again, run the updates before you scan. It's not a bad idea to run the anti-spyware stuff regularly -- weekly, monthly, somewhere in between.

Stopping Windows updates

Go to Control Panel --> go to Security Center --> Automatic Updates and go to it's options, properties or preferences page. Select "Turn off automatic updates"

A sidenote though, I honestly do not think your online virus scan is reliable. If you update by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update there will be no virusses. There's a big change the scanner itself is harmful software named Scareware (it tells you something is wrong, or potentionally harmful, then it tells you to download an exotic virusscanner or something to protect you but infect creates even more trouble by means of spam, spyware, pop-ups or trojans.)

Try installing a virus scanner from a trustes developer. Don't want to pay for it? Don't worry. There are some pretty good (and trusted) free ones.

Try this one:
[Grisoft AVG Free Edition]

I hope this answers your question, please rate.
