Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse not working

My Microsoft keyboard & mouse (wireless) all of the sudden quit working. i turned off my computer and turned it back on and it came to a screen that said "keyboard malfunction" something in those words. I would push the receiver and it would light up sometimes and other times it wouldn't. Can someone help me. I went to Target and bought another wireless keyboard and mouse thinking it was just time for that keyboard and mouse to retire, but the brand new one wasnt working either. I even changed usb plugs and it still wont work. is it the computer or the wireless keyboards? I want to keep the microsoft one because it was 85 dollars and really nice. I hate wired keyboards and mouses but is that what I have to resort too now? Please help me! I cant get on my computer at home now! Thanks :)

I did try that. I got out the manual and it still didnt seem to work. it would blink when i clicked on the connect buttons under the mouse and keyboard but still no response and i changed out the batteries to new ones! i dont get it. It worked before my boyfriend and i left for something and came back in 2 hours and quit working! we even turned the computer off for a couple hours, turned it back on and i clicked on the receiver and it would blink back and forth for about a minute like it was about to work than it would stop! any more suggestions ? :)

grab a wired keyboard, get into windows and un-install the Microsofts keyboard software and drivers, restart the machine and reinstall the keyboard again (leave the wired keyboard in while you do this)
Hopefully its just a driver problem and doing this may iron out any bad drivers

Good luck and post back with the results

At the back of the mouse, there will be small flushed 'reset' button. Press that. It resets and reconfigures the connection. If it still doesn't work, the mouse has gone bad.

Microsoft wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2.0 keyboard not working

You have to press the button on the receiver that is directly connected to the computer. While doing this, press the connect button both the mouse and the keyboard. I did this and now my keyboard is working, despite the battery indicator turning itself off a few seconds after I install it.

Hope this solves your problem.
