Question about Philips 37 in. LCD TV

Philips lcd 37pf9431d/37

I have no picture or sound and get a flashing red light when I turn the power on. We are having the same problem. Our pattern is flash once then pause then flash twice. What did you do to resolve this? Attempted to power my Philips 37pf9431d on. The power supply clicked on, but the screen did not illuminate. The green power LED changed to red and is flashing one long, two short. I can't find out what these flashing LEDs mean. My career is in electronic engineering. I disassembled the TV and rebuilt all of the capacitors on both power supply boards. Reassembled the TV and still get the same problem. A friend of mine suggested that it might be the LCD lamp, but I wanted to research before spending the money for purchasing a new one.

tv wont come on and I get this flashing code one red flashing light, then it flashing two times ------ does anyone know what it wrong with this and what part needs to be changed -- the manufacture is no help --- they say it is an internal problem and to call a technician ------ WOW I thought it was an external problem --- what a bunch of idiots

How did you initiate the firmware upgrade? if you had no screen.

Which is it, power supply or software upgrade? Does the one-two, one-two flashing light indicate both. Makes no sense.

My Philips 37pf9431d/37 stopped working and had one long and two short blinking red lights on the front. I found out that is a code 12. I took it apart expecting to find bulging capacitors, but was stumped when everything looked fine on the powerboard. After seeing a posting on this fourm that it was most likely the 100 Ohm 1/2 Watt resistor in position 3318 on the powerboard, I did a closer inspection with magnifiying glass and by taking a picture and blowing it up and it looked like the gold band was blackened a little.... but still hard to tell. I went to radio shack and bought a 5 pack for $1.19, soldered it into the board in 5 min and the TV works fine! Better than new. I was quite disappointed that Philips people would not support the TV anymore. they would not give me a schematic or service manual or even give me the option to buy one. I called a few of philips recommended places and got bad advise... they would have me buy a whole new board..... and another company told me the error code was a different board in the unit.... not the powerboard. Thank you to the technicians here who pinpointed that resistor on the powerboard! :-)

Finally got some help from customer service ----
the code flashing one then two red lights is for an upgrade of the software ---- you can go to their website and download a current fix to that problem onto a thumb drive----
\the power problem is caused by a bad power board--- you can replace them for any where from 130-330.00
dont need a service tech - take off cover and easy to replace---can find part on parts store.com for philips televisions --- used is about 130 and new about 330 -- used is a refurbished unit and works just as good as the new one

Did you ever get your Philips fixed?

I had the same problem with the same model. I took off the back of the television and checked the two small fuses. They were fine, unfortunately. So I bought the refurbished power board from Best Buy using the part number that I found on the web. Swapped out the board and the TV works fine. Now I need to know what to do with the old board. I feel badly throwing it away since it is probably some simple part.

relay clicking is a power board failure --- part of the board still works to supply power to the flashing lights--- the lights are related to an error code while in protection mode

I had the same thing - one long red flash followed by four short red flashes. Plugging and unplugging the power cord had no affect until I also unplugged all the cabled connections to the VCR and DVD player as well. Also, per the manufacturer's instructions, I unplugged the power cord from the surge protector and plugged it into the main wall outlet (which I tried first, but did not finally have success until I cycled the power cord unplugging process with all the cabled connections to the auxilliary devices unplugged as well).
