Question about Acer Aspire™ T180 PC Desktop
Unfortunately, the clutches are very unreliable in optical drives.
Check for a very small hole above or below the drawer. If you find one, take a standard paper clip, straighten it, push it into the hole. It may take several tries to find the manual release but there will be one if there is a hole at all. It may also take a firm push to release the drawer.
I am well-versed in repair of many things but have not had enough interest to see if the drawer clutch can be improved as I have two that are reluctant at best to open and seem to be only willing after several pushes of the eject button. The things are cheap enough today that it probably isn't worth the effort to see if they can be restored to reliable operation. If someone else has doen this; give us some feedback as to whether this is worthwhile or not.
